I think that equates to about $700 here in the states, depending on condition of kit and other hardware I would say thats a good deal. Is it Birch or Maple? There should still be alot of information on it on the web. It's not that old of a model.

Not having actually seen it, I'd say that it's probably a fair to good deal with all the stuff that comes with it. The Pro Ms were good kits. Asside from some minor cosmetic differences, they're pretty much the same as the current meridian line. The only reason that I sold mine was because I found a great deal on a used Saturn shell pack.
    Mmm... Saturns.

I think that's a pretty good deal for £400. Have you seen it yet?
I have an M Birch & I love it. The pro M being maple should give you the sound you prefer.

Pro M where all maple. The price is reasonable depending on conditiont. Is it that far that you can't take a afternoon drive to meet with the man and try them out and visualy see them. This could be a better deal than you think. You won't know till you go there. Good luck.

I believe the m series had basswood cores. The pro m I'm not sure about, but it is mostly maple. The info used to be on Wikipedia but they took that part down. Its hard to find info on old mapex kits. I have a 3rd Gen mars series which is maple with a mahogany core. Depending on how new the kit is (when it was made), it is almost the exact same thing as a meridian.

Back when the M line existed, it was a maple exterior ply, with basswood inner plies (7 or 8 total, I can't remember). Then there was the split to the M and Pro M lines. Around this time they also added the M birch line. The M remained the same, while the Pro M was constructed from 100% Asian maple shells as the Meridians still are today.
    Mmm... Saturns.

If you want little attack and lots of tone youre going to want new heads immediately you need to factor that into the price youre willing to pay.

Yeah, Evans Hydraulics all attack little resonance. So youre going to want all new heads.

If it's in the condition that you describe, I'd jump on that in a minute at that price. That's just me though.

I had an M Birch for a long time and loved it.

That price sounds right to me.

Worst case you get there and decide they REALLY arent what you are looking for. Don't buy them just because you drive. Drive because you think you really want them.

ProMs are amazing kits, a lot of touring metal bands still play them.
