Another killer drummer / teacher. One of the best things IMO to happen to Dream Theater in a long time.

Another killer drummer / teacher. One of the best things IMO to happen to Dream Theater in a long time.
A really, REALLY top shelf drummer. Always liked all his stuff, especially with Annihilator.
I lucked out and scored a Mike Mangini autographed Oriental trash that he played during a drum clinic at a tennesee drum store. Got it for less than new at GC. Still can't play like him. Lol

I think he is an awesome drummer and was the perfect fit for DT, arguably Marco is better but I still think Mangini was a better fit out of all those they auditioned.
A very good fit for Dream Theater. Those guys seem actually happy now. I bet one reason is Portnoy "the drama queen" is no longer there. Not taking anything away from the guy's playing... He is a top notch drummer but being an awesome drummer and a crybaby are two different things. Oh boy... I hope I dont get too much heat for that comment... ;)
What an amazing video. He's so fast. He moves his hands from one side of the kit to the other and way up top so quickly. It's incredible really.
Cool solo!!
Really love his track on lost not forgotten.
Not just one of my favourite drummers but he always comes across as such a cool, down to earth guy.
A great example to all musicians.
Here is yet another cool video of Mike. The first one I added disappeared.
Your other videos might have been from a commercial or advertisement? this is still my favorite Mangini video
He is extraordinary at his craft! I saw him with Dream Theater last year and then went to one of his clinics.

defitinely a great drummer those vids give me multiplying chills i love how it seems like his facial expressions are playing the beat as well his whole body is in sync with his drumming like hes ultimately relaxed when he plays its fantabulous to watch!
He was just voted "Drummer of the Year" for 2013 in the latest issue of Drum magazine.
Amazingly fast
Great drummer, worst signature drumstick ever, IMO.
...and he was in Extreme
I met mike drum my drum magazine editor
the week of "pasic 1995" here in phoenix arizona...
He had just come from da extreme gig & was da drummer
with dale bozzio in "missing persons"
(she kept da band as part of divorce)....
They were playin a "dive" called "mason jar"

Terry was a featured show (one man drum orchestra show) @ pasic..
Took a limo to da club,,,,opened door...saw action,,,"said nah" & left...
Mike had just learned within the week how to do a "one hand roll"
after failing to get it right in long practice hours....

i think "mikey" found a new band to explore with,,,
go DREAM THEATRE,,,!!! YEY MIKEY,,,,LUBS YA BUD,,
Mikes extensive knowledge and skills has helped inspire me and invigorated my playing.
I really appreciate his style and dexterity on a large kit.
Being a teacher he sounds like the type of cat you could meet and pick his brain without reservation!!!!
I'd heard of Mike Mangini before but had not heard a lot of his playing until he joined DT. After watching the Live at Luna Park DVD several times he has quickly become one of my favorite drummers. He's quite an amazing drummer.
