What surprised me the most was how heavy they are. The shells are solid, no doubt about that.
Now comes the wait for the cymbals and stands.
Re: Crystal Beats Are Here
Very nice Rick! Are they already tuned? Are you selling your other kit?
Re: Crystal Beats Are Here
I have 3 new Studio-X heads left from when I bought them for my Ludwigs, so I only need 1 more and then they will go on the new Pearls. As for the other set of Pearls, I'll keep them.

It's always going to come down to the tuning. There is 3 different kinds of wood shells and 1 acrylic drum in my Ludwig set. Can you tell the difference?
Also, there will be no lights.
Re: Crystal Beats Are Here
What's the name of the color? They look frosted or matte like.

They call them frosted. If they were transparent, I wouldn't have bought them.

Where's the money shot?
And a video?

I have to get them downstairs and set them up, figure what heads are going on them, and how to get the 2 up toms set where I want them. I can't play for 4 more weeks (at least), so I'm in no rush.

I have no idea why anyone would want transparent drums, it would be like looking at Jennifer Lawrence through a X-ray machine.

Yeah, I don't think so. lol
Re: Crystal Beats Are Here
I love the clear ones, personally. And the other day I ran across a set from one of the manufacturers that was a beautiful coke bottle green tint with inlay accents. Can't find the pic now.

Re: Crystal Beats Are Here
Coming back from Dallas in late '82, I spent 3 days in Mountainburg Arkansas. Beautiful place if you like a town that folds everything up at 6:00.
Once I found it, I was told it was a dry county, so I had to drive back to Ft Smith to get some beer.
When a town has a population of about 35-40 people and a 7-11, that's not going to work for me.
Re: Crystal Beats Are Here
Ha! Well, you'd be hard pressed to find a dry county in this state anymore. And marijuana dispensaries are popping up everywhere. Not to mention that we're about to become the state with the highest number of casinos per capita! You'd probably feel right at home here now. If you are ever back in the state, be sure to visit historic Hot Springs, Arkansas. A beautiful city with hot springs (naturally), spas, entertainment, beautiful architecture, horse racing and casinos. It used to be the "home away from home" for Chicago gangsters who would come here and stay hidden whenever the heat was on in Chicago. Oddly, while in Hot Springs the gangsters lived quiet lives apart from the underground gambling and drinking establishments.

Yes I are, aren't I. Clean a glass or a dish, what a novel idea. I'll have to try that sometime.
