I've been seeing a lot of friend's photos with a multitude of snare drums. Is this the new trend? I only own 2, lol.
How many snare drums do you own?

I own 4 but only wear one. I think some drummers *coughSpazcough* collect snare drums like some women collect shoes...

I think I have 7 or 8, but I only really use 3;
1) 13x7 Pork Pie COS on my practice kit
1) 13x6 Supralite for small venue gigs
1) 14x8 Supralite for large venue/outdoor gigs.
The rest just collect dust...
That said, I’m always on the lookout for a unique or killer deal on snares. Snares are cheap compared to kits, easy to collect and fun to mix-n-match. There’s a huge range of styles, sizes and designs, so why not have fun with them? Also, the snare is the most recognizable to the audience.
Great...I think I just talked myself into buying another snare...
Only 2 for me.
I have 2 Black Beauty Super Sensitive's, 2 Supraphonics up in Jersey along with 1 of the BB SS's, a Black Magic, a Acrolite, a Supralite, a DynaSonic, and the Black Panther.
I have 6 but no idea why!
Yamaha RC Birch 14x8
Yamaha RC Brass 13x6.5
Yamaha SC Steel 14x6.5
Pearl Piccolo Brass 13x3
Pearl Masterworks 20 ply Maple/Birch/Mahogany 14x6.5
Tama SLP G-Maple 13x7
The G-Maple gets the most use.
15 Total.. I like the tonal differences in them (different woods, metals, diameters and depths).
1) Tama SLP G Maple 13 x 7
2) DW Collectors Maple 14 x 6.5
3) Pork Pie BOB 14 x 6
4) Pork pie steel 13 x 6
5) Pearl Piccolo Maple 13 x 3 (for sale if anyone interested)
I use all but the Piccolo
It's clearly just an addiction. No real need for it. I am down to 7. I only use 2 of them. Idiotic I know.
I acquired a modest collection of 8 over the span of about 30 years. 4 of them are in gig rotation with 2 of them seeing the most use.
My problem is I can't seem to convince myself to sell the others ...

J/K -- that is a photo of the old Fork's snare room.
Right now I have 4 snare drums:
Ludwig birch 6.5X14/1964 Slingy maple 5X14/Gretsch USA bronze 6.5X14/Ludwig Black Magic 7X13
I’m sitting on 11 right now. I do swap them out pretty frequently. I like to play with the tunings and trying different head and wire combinations.
I’ve thought about getting another. For some reason I have it in my head that having a prime number of snare drums is bad luck. Or maybe it’s good luck and I just want another. Then I would have to go to 13.
I have 6. 1 is retired, 1 is junk, 2 sit in the closet and the other 2 get used.
Where's Michael ... he had a whole mansion full of snares.
Found him... i think he had 52 snares here.

I'm with Tom on this one. I love them all and you out there with your massive collections, but I don't have anything I don't use. I have four snares. Two DW Collectors that I use for my primary (14x6 maple and 14x8 brass) and two Ludwig (13x3 bronze and 14x5 acrolite) that I use for my side snare. I love a museum as much as the next guy. I just don't want to own one. #notacurator
Michael is probably collecting more snares lol.
The most I've ever owned at one time was 4 , currently I have 1.
I have 7. 5 that came with kits plus a Tama Black Brass and G Maple. The ones I gig with are the Black Brass, G Maple and the Silverstar Mirage when I play that kit. I am always on the lookout for my next snare and I currently have my eye on a Bubinga.
