what brands of sets have you played?
Just curious...
There are so many advancements in drums now, I feel totally out of the loop and left behind sometimes.
I'm wondering how many different brands of drum sets you have played. You don't have to have owned them. You may have been sitting in or have borrowed them. You must have actually played them. No finger tapping drums at the music store. A set of the brand not just a snare or something.
Here is my list and it's surprisingly short...
Ludwig...owned
Gretsch...own
Premier...(old ones) someone else's
Slingerlands... (vintage) someone else's
Pearl...(old ones) Someone else's
Fibes....borrowed
That's about it. I've never played Yamaha, Tama, Rogers, Mapex etc... or any of the boutique brands.
all the best...

Re: what brands of sets have you played?
Ludwig - Owned in the 80's (first set)
Gretsch - Owned one set
Tama - Own (two sets, one from the 80's one current)
Yamaha - Owned one set
Mapex - About to own
Didn't love the Yamaha Tour Customs I had for about 6 months, but I do actually regret selling the Renowns. I never found the right sound, but it was really a tuning/head issue.

Maidstone???
I am guessing your computer spellchecked Milestone and came up with that?
I have never kept track of anything of this sort, guess I have owned and or played on almost everything. Except, most boutique builders, including Brady, Sleishman, Guru, and a few of the newer lines, like Crush, Peace and Truth. I think I have had a go on any and all the mainstream drums.

Re: what brands of sets have you played?
DW - Own lots of stuff
Camco - Own. Restoring the set, but the process is currently in limbo. before the restoration began, I had a bit of fun on it. Have an 18" Camco shell currently set up as a kick drum for my micro setup.
Pearl - Own a pearl export, woo... Nested in the kick drum and hasn't been played since 2009? Something like that.
PDP - Owned previously. Played a bunch of shows and recorded some songs on it. A buddy of mine also owns one that he uses as his rehearsal kit.
Ludwig - Owned a clear Ludwig Vistalite for a minute. Wasn't a fan of the sound, returned it.
Ddrum - play on one quite a bit as my keyboard player owns a high end Ddrum kit with mappa burl finish. A drumming friend of mine also brings his out to the jams he hosts. Also own a Ddrum 17 ply snare. It felt like there was a lot of punch, but not a whole lot of resonance in the shell.
Crush - Played on an ash Crush kit that belongs to one of the killer players in the area at a jam he hosted. Very similar tonally to the ddrum kits I've played.
Tama - A drumming buddy of mine owns a intermediate or high level tama kit, I never bothered to look at the line because it just sounds good and looks good, might be a starclassic. Played it at a jam that he hosted.
Mapex - A buddy of mine plays a Mydentity birch as his gigging kit, I've sat behind it before. Similar feel to the ddrum and crush kit.
Roland - Own a TD-12
I've tapped on a bunch of other kits at shops, but I don't think that's what's meant by this.

At 1 time or the other, I've played on probably every set of drums that were available from the late '50's to around 2005-6.
I've owned Kents (my 1st drum set) Rogers, Slingerland, and my favorite, Ludwigs.
Almost forget the set of Pearls that I have.

Re: what brands of sets have you played?
C&C- My current "main" kit for gigs and studio. Big freakin' drums. Still learning to tune with those curved bearing edges, but I've gotten great results so far, especially in the studio.
Mapex- My "backup" kit, per-se. I'll use the kick at times with my C&C toms because it's a bit smaller thus a bit more punchy. I need to get some new heads on the toms because I'm pretty confident that they could sound great.
DW- My old "main" kit. I miss it so much and wish I hadn't been forced to sell it to get my C&C's. The best sounding maple kit I've ever played.
Ludwig-The main kit that I got to play in high-school. Was a 1993 classic maple in 12-13-14-20 sizes. Sounded insanely good.
Pearl- I've played an export for a while at church and a friend of mine has a Masters. Both the export and Masters sounded VERY good (especially that Masters kit).
PDP- The main kit at a church I played with for a while. It always made me mad at how good it sounded because for a long time it was sounding way better than I could get my DW's to sound. If I'm ever in a pinch and need to sell my drums for money reasons, I'll be getting a PDP to take its place.
Gretsch- A friend of mine has one of the Catalina kits and it sounds really dang good. Those toms especially.
Yamaha- My highschool had a recording custom with a huge bass drum and some deep toms. I didn't know much about drums in high school, but I remembered loving it.
