**I Bought a Cowbell But...**
Alright, so I bought a cowbell today and I really like it but I don`t like the mounting system.
It`s one of those where you mount on to the bass drum hoop.
I`m afraid that overtime the hoop is going to start cracking.
Has anyone had a problem with this mounting set up?
If so, is there any way to prevent damage besides mounting it somewhere else?
Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
Well NIK, i haven't got my cowbell yet..but in the old days when i did i got a mount for my hi-hat that worked pretty well.. thats probably the direction i will go unless something else comes up..not sure if its the best way...maybe other will chime in and both of us can benifit..:boom-crash:
Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
Ive never had mine mounted to the hoop but know there are several on board that have and Ive never heard any complaints . I used to have mine mounted to the HH rod at one time too .
Theres a bracket made by LP , I believe called the claw ,which allows you to mount it to the rim of your snare .
I bought a bracket made by Rythym Tech that lets you mount up to 4 different items to it and that is where my bell and jam blocks are . I keep them just above the rim of my snare .
There are a few other type brackets which let you mount it just about any where thats comfy for you to reach .Good luck with it .

I have the same one. Get the Gibralter attatchment, and you'll be fine. I've had mine for nearly a year and it's still strong.

Mine has been mounted off the bass drum hoop for years. No cracking or damage or anything.

I use the LP claw on my BD rim, you can stick that claw just about anywhere, even on a cymbal stand, and it rotates 360 degrees, so finding a spot for it is easy.
Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
I have my cowbell mounted to the cymbal shaft of a clamp-on arm arrangement. For the actual cymbal part I've mounted my 6" ZilBel upside down on that part so that clamp arm serves two purposes.
Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
if you dont want the cowbell to move around much, the bass drum is the best place for it really. you could always put it on your hi hat or the snare, but what are you gonna do when you have to put mics on snare or hats? bass drum is a place thats out of the way and still accessable
Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
Do you have a fever...... :rofl2:
I have the LP claw too and it's great/
Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
I have a bass drum mount and it's been fine, it was recommended by my teacher who has been playing drums for decades, as i'm sure a bunch of these guys have too. I also have a latin percussion "mini everything rack" that hooks onto a cymbal stand. I sometimes put my cowbell there depending on what i'm playing.

Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
I have mine mounted to the bass drum as well. There's a thin layer of padding between the wood and the metal mount. I have it tightened nice and snug so as not to move around, and also wood has a bit of flex to it. Unless I go smashing it with a sledge hammer, I can't see how any damage could possibly happen.
Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
thanks guys
i feel better now lol
Re: **I Bought a Cowbell But...**
I have my cowbell mounted onto my bass drum hoop. All I did was pad out the metal clamp parts with some soft foam and insulation tape, then mounted the clamp onto my bass drum, just so it didn't damage the hoop ;) But no complaints :)

I have a clamp contraption that mounts off of a cymbal stand or hi-hat stand.
