How much would cost to record

What are some good brands? equipment needed, ways to do it cheaply? i am wanting to basically record to put into tracks and then have them on my computer and either sit down compile parts and make drum parts to a song or just have something to give to people to listen to me. Is there a way that i can get into it where i buy one good mic and what ever cords or module i need to run it to my computer then slowly add on from there.

two overheads, one kick mic, a 4 channel board a computer and Audacity. Done
