Thanks all for the advice and suggestions, as it turns out, the heads (all Evans G2) on the rack toms were a tad soft. Plus hitting them with a set of Travis Barker sig sticks didn't help the cause...
This maybe totally newb but....I've dented the heads on the two rack toms. Are the heads not tensioned enough or is it the position of the toms (angle to me) or am I just hitting them way too hard?...
I was just chiming in here to see if anyone else was having issues with Zildjan sticks. Every pair..so far, that I've purchased have had the tip snap, or split off much like in the previous photos in...
And so it is! Thanks for that! I have a Mike Michalkow lesson on the shuffle that I'll work on.
Thanks for the help rmanddelbaum!

Is Andy Parker using a dbl kick cause I can't seem to get this down with out doing 1/4's on the hats....I don't think I'm even doing that lol! Not sure if it makes a difference have hte dlb or not,...
Thanks Yohin, incredible difference, even though these are only intermediate level...aside from the splash...
Thanks Fifty,The splash is pretty sweet, and ya I suppose that's not the best way to advertise the ZBT's if I wanna sell 'em!
Picked up a used set of XS20's; 16" med.thin and 18" med.thin crash plus a 12" HH splash. What a diff from the garbage can lids I had...well technically still have. I actually want to hit the cymbals...
I love the sound of that little one, kinda like a little "boop"!
Did you have a difficult time tuning between the floor toms at all?
Pretty much the same Pastor Bob. Picture doesn't represent the colour well,
fluorescent lighting n all...

ok so my title says AX but they are XS20's..good thing peeps know their stuff
ya, seems almost too good to be true.......then again I don't know what these go for in a shop. I paid 300 for the 5 ZBT's. Still need some reference as to whether these are a decent "intermediate"...
Are these good cymbals? I'm new to drumming and bought the Ziljian ZBT rock pro set...or whatever, but later learned these are pretty much crap. I have a line on a set of XS20's for $425. new

Love your Sig by the way! Speaks so much!
ya I have'nt had any complaints from neighbours...yet, but I only go at it for a hour a day and usually 6-7 pm. Sticking practice is always on the pad. I just noticed that when I get "into it" I get...
here's one...When you first started drumming, did you find it intimidating or at the least difficult to really hit the drums to get the sound and feel out of the kit? Or is it just me worrying about...
Technically it isn't "the first set" but the first "real set". I don't tend to buy on the intention to sell down the road anyway....well lately that is. I just don't want to do the buy now regret the...
ya but Gretsch are just awesome don't ya think??
K, I think I'm sold on the Gretsch. Prolly the Catalina Maple Amber 7 pcs tho, cause...why not? You only live once. I can upgrade the ZBT cymbals later. I know the Yamaha's and the Ludwigs are great...
ya you'd think. didn't seem to be alot of room to set them up though. Granted I didn't ask to hear them either. Prolly need to book an appt for that.
Thanks for all the input. Tough decision, the cymbals on the Pearl set are good quality from what I can tell, Ziljian vault, Sabian B8's but the Gretsch kit is very tempting. I was also pointed...
