    AAX is like the A customs of Sabian. I'd say this is a reat deal if they are barely used. A Customs may have a slightly higher pitch but AAX are great hats and very versatile. Good score!!

    I agree with the dead center for a good thump, but the curiosity may stem for the style in which you might play a timpani. Where playing closer to the edge will result in a better tone from the drum.
