    My tom layout is 8"x12", & 14"x16" with a 16"x22" kick. I can understand the school of thought that a 4" differential between your rack and floor tom might be too wide. I used to share this opinion...

    I use the ones made by D'Addario. Even though they're intended for guitars, they work quite nicely on drums and chrome hardware. They're also machine-washable, too. Just don't add fabric...
