first i would go to a fabric shop/walmart and replace those plastic snare straps with nylon straps. they hold a lot better IMO. that would be the first and cheapest start of towards a fix

I use a 30 strand puresound, on a 14x6 and I'll die using those snares!
for different genres I either tighten or loosen the snares, and or the heads.

The cam is the part of the pedal that the chain/strap rests on. the cam effects everything from the footboard, to effort of the stroke. It shouldn't effect your music any.
