I used a $60 Wuhan China for years and had no complaints other than it doesn't fit in my cymbal case because of the traditional bell. That wasn't a big deal until my band started gigging regularly,...
I recently purchased a K Custom Dark Ride and have been very pleased with it's balance of warmth, wash and definition. I have the 22" but if I had it to do over again I would have gotten the 20".
I use G2/G1 clears on my main stage kit which is used for mostly modern rock/alternative. I used G2/G1 coated on my second kit which is used for pretty much everything. No muffling since they're...
I'm sorry to hear about your coworker but I'm glad you were able to take a positive message from it. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed.
And that's really what it is - the giant light show, excessive PA and a bunch of small things like putting guitar stands in front of my bass drum. It's no longer fun. I'm not getting rich off this...
My current band is destroying my desire to play drums and, quite possibly, my will to live. The music is great but they don't seem to realize we're a cover band playing local bars. Being at the venue...
Thanks, guys! I can't see anything but that string hanging off my shirt.
It isn't perfect but it'll do. I thought the kufi was a bit much but I wore it for the song.

Agreed. You can replace the clutch for less than $20. I'm partial to DW clutches. They have a set screw that locks the bottom nut in place, but Pearl, Tama, etc. make clutches with the same feature....
Same here. I use G1 over G1 on my 8" and 10".
I use G2 clears on my toms with G1 clears on the resonant side and have used both the Heavyweight and the HD Dry for the snare. The G2s are a pretty common standard for rock, tune up well and sound...
Playing to a click or using backing tracks? I think practicing to a click is very important, but using one live is pretty pointless. No one is really going to notice or care if the song is a little...
Subdivisions - Rush
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel
Ants Marching/Tripping Billies - Dave Matthews Band
I just upgraded from the SPD-30 to the SPD-SX so I could take advantage of sampling. Spent a couple of hours tonight getting sounds off the SPD-30 since it comes with a lot more than the SX.
Band video complaints? Yeah, I got one. YOU CAN'T SEE THE DRUMMER.
Yeah but you don't join a band to become a marriage counselor.
That sucks, man. Bands are always drama. Currently going through BS with my band over politics of all things. One member can't check his opinions at the door and just play music so he's trying to...
Luckily the DW hi-hat comes with short and long rods.
Thanks. I decided to go with the Neil Peart setup because I prefer a 4-piece kit and wanted the other toms out of the way for the most part.
They're 12 and 13. This is my first "birds-eye" shot and it didn't turn out great. The perspective is kinda wonky.
Taken at a gig last weekend

Back in high school when I marched I used a pillow. Now I prefer hard.
If you don't mind being on the road it's a way to make a lot more money playing a shorter show. Crowds seem to love them and they're fun to watch if they're talented enough to nail the material.
