    Re: Last one, honest. Vader.

Someone on the Motorhead forum said the splash sounds were irritating but I think that's what makes them so good, I love it. You don't normally hear cymbals and hi-hat quite as in your face as here.

    Re: Last one, honest. Vader.

I respect that, the majority of people don't like death metal vocals.
But I was hoping to hear what drummers thought about the drumming, and in particular how they're mixed in this song.

Re: OK, Barriemore Barlow? Jethro Tull?

    Seriously?!

Man you suck! :) I've seen them three times myself, but only in recent years, and they're good but nothing like they must have been in the 70's. I totally envy you.

    Last one, honest. Vader.

I'm 99% certain I love the drumming on this album, and this track in particular, because of the way the drums are mixed. The hi-hat and cymbals seem to be very high in the mix, which is rather...

    OK, Barriemore Barlow? Jethro Tull?

Even John Bonham said Barlow was the best drummer England produced!

This entire performance is fantastic, but the first 3:35 in particular, in a musicians sense, is just incredible.

    Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor? Motorhead?

I did a search, but nothing.

No one into Motorhead? I love 'em, but I gotta say Philthy was a far more interesting, if less technically accomplished, drummer than Mikkey Dee.

    Anyone?

    Re: Michael Henry "Nicko" McBrain

I love how he has his own recognisable style. I also used to love buying the 10 Years 12" single collection to hear what lunacy he'd be spouting that week. Brilliant stuff. :)

That was fantastic! Apart from a little bit at around 1:45 it sounded nigh on perfect. :)

Re: My new song - beginner to drums

Thanks a lot man, the guitars weren't as tight as they should be since I only just wrote it so never got to know it well enough, but I'm happy with how it came out anyway and your comment was really...

My new song - beginner to drums

Okay you guys will know I've only just started playing drums, and it's the cheapest USB electronic kit you can find. I just wrote this song today (heavily ripping off "Sad But True" it has to be...

    Re: Metallica - Blackened

I'm only just really (really) beginning drumming, but that didn't sound right to me. Everything was great except the kick drum. I don't know if you played it exactly as it's played on the album,...

Re: Why do most British singers..

Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) doesn't and he can't understand why people do it either.

  20. Re: Tim "Ripper" Owens tribute song I did, need help.

I can see why a drummer would like that Charred Walls stuff. I can't get into it though. It just seems to be an album full of complex riffs and drum beats, with absolutely zero hooks or choruses or...

    Re: Very (very) basic questions

BTW, I'm correct in saying you generally wouldn't be hitting the kick drum at the same time as the snare? For most basic beats?
