Re: Can You Feel A Change ?

The band I'm in started up last January, so we've made it almost a year. We are all friends who started up the band for fun, & we have been gigging 2-3 times a month.

    Two weeks ago, the singer...

    Re: What Kit to Use?

I keep my pricy DW's at home so as not to damage the gorgeous bubinga finish. I gig with my inexpensive PDP's which are plenty adequate for a punk rock band.

    Sticky: Re: DW Drums Discussion

I got it at the local GC in San Bernardino, California. I like the rack because it clears up floor space, plus the rack toms need something to hang from.

    Sticky: Re: DW Drums Discussion

I bought these used from GC yesterday. They are exotic waterfall bubinga shells in pristine condition. These are too nice to gig with, & I'm dedicating my PDP set for a knock-around gigging kit.

    Re: Broken arm

I have a plate in my left hand that limits my grip--which actually helps me play some things better with my left hand. Hope your arm heals without residual problems.

    Re: Club Owners

Our band is new, so it generally gets assigned the first or second time slots. We have had our times moved around quite often, but I figure that is part of "paying our dues."

    Re: Stage wear

My band is a punk rock band (all members are pushing 50 and I'm in my 60's. The other members wear California beach punk attire (board shorts & some other band's t-shirts). Since we have no band...

    Re: Who doesnt read music?

I don't know whether the ability to read music has had an effect, but I am not much good at playing by ear. I need to have the music handy, or I just make up stuff.

    Re: Dealing with horrible acoustics?

The acoustics in the venue we played last night were fantastic. They had six huge monitors facing the band, a great sound system for the room, and a great sound technician who made the balance work...

We're playing tonight at a different bar, which I hear has better monitors. I am going to make sure to get some sound pointed my way this time.

    Dealing with horrible acoustics?

My band played its first full gig at a local bar on Saturday. Sitting behind the drums, the sound from the other instruments was muddled and I could not hear the vocals at all. Consequently, it was...

    Re: Mixing cymbals

I'm another who believes it's fine to mix cymbal brands. I have mostly Sabian AAXs, but I have a Zildjian A splash and an Istanbul sizzle splash. I like them all, & think they work fine together.

Thanks! I just got the rack & love how it opens up the floor space around the drums. It may be a bit too heavy to conveniently lug around to gigs, though.
