Your best bet is if you know an experienced drummer in your town who has tried almost every head imaginable is to ask him.
Here is mine.

rofl with leet sauce on top.
Somewhere in the world right now, Niel Peart weeps at how gimped his drumset is compared to the leetness of the barbie set pictured above.
I just saw this guy on Dimmu Borgir's live dvd. HOLY ****!!!!
This guy was just a guest drummer for thier ozzfest performance but he ****ing ruled!!!!!! One of the best drummers I have seen in a...
I have a drum dial. Its great. Best way to use it is tune your drums by ear. Then measure the tension of the head with the drum dial. Saves alot of time.
This way you can get your prefered sound...
I love my China. It's a zildjian "18 oriental china trash. Best $180 I spent for a non-crash cymbal I have bought so far. I plan on getting a zildjian earth ride somewhen down the road too.
Alot of bands in my genre of music do have satanic overtones or actually worship satan. Kinda dumb huh? Its actually become trendy for a deathmetal/blackmetal band to sport pentagrams and other...
Not at the moment. We are going to be writeing new material soon though.
I'll post a link when we have some.
I think I should do my drum solo on that keyboard instead.
We play death-metal/black-metal. We are just starting to experiment with material for our new songs. There are alot of traditional death/black metal bands around right now. But I like to be diverse....
I use mostly zildjian and some paiste cymbals.
How much do you have to spend?
Have you tried a zil-bell? They are essentially a large bell like on your ride.
I think they go for $100 or less.
Remo ambassdors for my toms. Powerstroke 3 for my bass drum. Evan's genera dry for my snare(s).
I use Metrophones. They are stereo isolation headphones with a built in metronome. I love em. They shield just enough of the volume and recreate a very good amount of the definition of the music....
I've seen some jazz drummers use that technique.
I often lose 20 minutes doing mach beats with my fingers and hands on my thighs. I try not to do it in public though....people tend to think im a nut when I do so.
Which reminds me, recently at a...
I think it has to do with the way the light refracts. Somewhat like a prism making rainbows. I have taken apart a dualply drum head. Completly dry.
I use Pro-mark 5b nylon tip drumsticks.
I just dust off my drums and occasionally clean my cympals with cymbal cleaner. Hell with polishing them the just get dusty and dirty again.
I am really stoked about getting a Roland set with v-pads in the not to distant future, though I cant say I am too stoked about the 5k price tag lol.
I'll always have my acoustic, but I just get the...
Size really doesn't matter as much as some think it does. I actually downsized my kit from 9 drums to 6 drums. I just didn't have enough space to fit all that stuff in my bands jam room. I honestly...
Thats wierd. I useally find it the easiest. I guess it just depends on what size snare you have. Im guessing you have a 14"x6" or something similar?
M I K E P O R T N O Y
The only reason I listen to Dream Theater :)
(well mostly, though I really like some of Myung's bass work)
I have a pacific 6 piece. 10" timbale',12",14" rack toms, and 18" floor tom, zildjian cymbals and a gibralter curved double bass drum rack with a axis longboard double pedal, Alesis DM5 drum module...
