If you could find another set of 6 & 8 concert toms, buy them and modify them. But if you only have the one matching set, I wouldn't touch them.
Have loved Nicko since I heard him play with Pat Travers. And he helped Maiden become huge. And who doesn't love looking at that beautiful giant drum kit he plays!!!
I use an electronic drum kit at home and love it. Quiet to play on. I have multiple drum kit sounds at the touch of a button. Takes up far less space than an acoustic kit.
Back in my playing days...
I really like the ahead sticks. When I was playing out alot I would go threw 3 or 4 pairs of sticks a night. Switched to Aheads and have only broken 2 in 6 years.:devil2:
The tamo ash finish on that kit is actually a plastic wrap from Bum drum. Pretty cool looking though. I got a sample of it. It does look like a plastic wrap and not a natural finish
Does anyone know if the Yamaha RHH-135 hi-hat controller will work with a Yamaha DTXpressII module? If not, is there a real feel hi-hat stand controller that will work with the DTXpressII?:boom-crash:
All that matters is you like them. Congrats!!!!!!!
When I was playing I used Vic Firth Ralph Hardimon marching sticks with nylon tips.
I liked the feel of a bigger stick, and I would only break a couple sticks per show instead of
Going throw 5 or 6...
Back in the late 80's and early 90's when I was playing,I used a big double tiered drum cage. The first time moving it off stage was a nightmare. The next two days I went threw and beefed everything...
When I was playing a big kit I used a DW remote hat and had no trouble at all with response.
I have type 1 diabetes and have had to stop playing. I have lost most of the feeling in my feet and my hands come in and out of being numb. I"m also loosing my vision from diabetes. Besides not...
One of my worse mistakes was watching a stunning looking woman dancing who had absolutely no rhythm Got so hooked on watching here I lost my rhythm and started dropping beats and totally blew a song...
Signia, that second snare is exactly what I am looking for as far as shine. How did you do that. That is. Beautiful!!!!!
I've played on some windy outdoor stages and with my ride up in the air. 22in.rides act like sails Luckily had some eye hooks and screwed them into the stage and tied the stand to the floor.
I always use a boom with a counterweight for my ride. I have a Paiste 3000 rude power ride that is about the same weight as a manhole cover up in the air. I have 13 & 14 toms on my bass drum and put...
Thanks guys. I really like the fade finishes. I think I'm going to do a couple coats of modified tongue oil, let that dry for about a week, and then a couple coats of laquer. Got this idea from a...
I have a couple pairs. My problem with them is I had trouble gripping them. Kinda slippery. I put grip tape on them and they are fine. I did bend one but I admit I am a heavy hitter. I usually use...
Hey guys. Just got an 8X14 cherry stave shell made and was looking for ideas for a finish. I have black powdercoated hardware. I don't have access to spray equipment. looking for some help and ideas.
anything by Dream Theatre or Slayer. Just kidding. My vote goes with the AC/DC people here, Simple beat and very good time keeping.
Every internal dampener I ever had came loose and rattled. Since I didn't really use them I just removed them.
I had this issue constantly with sound guys. I went and bought really good mics (Sennheiser 421's ) and they still wanted tape and crap all over my heads.:wall: Finally gave up and bought an Alesis...
I am about an 1in. to an 1 1/2in. kind of guy. But with playing mostly rock and metal there is almost always an open gap in my HH while playing.
I had a double bass Ludwig Vistalite kit from the late 70's. They had a different sound but they don't travel well, especially in the cold. I was living in western New York and the Vistas hated the...
I've been playing Paiste since 1985. Just love their quality and sound. Very consistent from cymbal to cymbal. Rudes for rides and Hi-Hats, and a mixture of Rudes, 2002's, and Signature for crashes....
