    Re: Not Happy

I've seen a lot of A Customs develop cracks like that, that's how they normally seem to fail. They're pretty thin cymbals, after 12 years I would say that's normal wear and tear for a gigging...
  2. Re: Double base question and single bass

For playing doubles on a single bass I’ve always found it easier to play with the head pretty loose and also the spring tension pretty loose on the pedal.

Re: Tom stands for 80s Pearl

Can you take a picture of the tom mount on the drum and the current arm you’re using? I would think you’re best bet would be stick with Pearl. They’ve used that same style pipe setup for years now...

    Sticky: Re: Yamaha Drums discussion

I was able to score a 14x14 floor tom for my MCAN kit. The new 14" floor is actually a birch drum but it matches so I'm happy with it. I've finally found a way to incorporate a double bass pedal in...

Re: Kit you've had the longest?

My brother had ‘our’ 1980 Chrome Yamaha 7000 kit before I was even born. I played it for years and it’s now back at his house and both my nephew and niece are playing it.

    Next would be my 7pc...

Re: What cymbal polish do you recommend?

I’m with you, I’ll never clean another cymbal. I did this in my middle school days when I didn’t know any better. Cleaning them changes the tone, makes them brighter. Give me the grime and dirt,...

Re: Zildjian K Custom Dark hats

I have the exact same 14" K Custom Dark hats that came with a Yamaha MCAN kit that I bought. At first I thought that I wasn't going to like them, mostly based on how heavy they felt. But I've...

    Re: Hi-Hat Cymbals For Jazz

Zildian New Beats are probably the most common. They really work for just about everything, especially for a novice. Everything else is going to be whatever sounds best to you.

    You’re generally...

Re: May have a second set soon...

I’ve had a very similar vintage 14x6.5” Masters Custom snare in maple for years. It’s always treated me well, served as my main snare for a very long time.

    Sticky: Re: Yamaha Drums discussion

Very nice, Zach, this kit is amazing.

If you’re ever in the market for a 14x12 YESS Vintage Natural Maple Custom tom, I have one that I’d part with.

I probably have a bunch of other sizes you...

    Sticky: Re: DW Drums Discussion

    What a beautiful kit!

I know how wide open these drums are with the stock heads, it must sound absolutely massive.

Do you have a front end view of it to show the color?

    Sticky: Re: DW Drums Discussion

The reality is the market for people buying elite high end kits is quite limited, especially with used, elite high end kits.

The only way I can get my money back out of the used Collectors...

    Sticky: Re: Yamaha Drums discussion

Bish, do you ever play that kit or is it in a museum? I don't see a single stick mark on the entire kit! Absolutely beautiful though.

Let me know when you get sick of it. My exotic DW would...

    Sticky: Re: Yamaha Drums discussion

Haven't checked the thread in awhile, great vid Zack! When is the 20" kick coming, haha?

Seriously though, with all the Yamaha kits I own, my vintage natural MC is still my favorite.

That really is terrible news, thanks for coming here to share it. I always enjoyed his posts over all these years, he was one of DC's most reliable members. He's a lock for the drumchat hall of...
  16. Re: Great deal on new Yamaha kit recording customs.

    Nice pick up!

How to you like them after some seat time?
  17. Re: Trading Saturn V for Yamaha Tour Custom?

The Yamaha bass drum mounts work so well. They are so simple and sturdy.

Just a quick glance at the Mapex BD mount and I can tell you the ‘L’ style arm isn’t going to work as well.

    Yamaha...
  18. Re: The Slingerland Concert Kings Saga - new heads

Good choice, Yamaha has the best hardware.

Post a pic when you get a chance, I’m interested to see what you did.
  19. Re: The Slingerland Concert Kings Saga - new heads

Yeah, that tom mount looks awful. What did you end up doing with it?

I think that’s one of the biggest single issues with both Slingerland and Gretsch drums. The drums are good but what in the...

Re: Yamaha Recording Customs - in the house

I always had an issue with my BCA kit sounding very boxy in smaller rooms. In a bigger space they sing for days.

  22. Re: Bish's Beastily Blue Beeches have arrived

I know I have some old Interstate catalogs from this time period. I started playing drums in 1992 at age 8 and when I was beyond obsessed in the late 90’s with drums, which I guess that hasn’t...

  24. Re: Bish's Beastily Blue Beeches have arrived

HO would be 18 according to the date chart, which I think would put the build date at August 2001. The date chart is confusing though and I’ve never been able to use it the way it’s says too on the...
  25. Re: Bish's Beastily Blue Beeches have arrived

There’s two different charts out there for build date. Can you post some of the SN or pm them to me? Generally with an entire kit one of the SN will correspond with a build dates that makes sense. ...
