    Exactly. My parents used to make me be in band when I played the alto sax. But then I started playing drums for the band and I liked it a lot more. Maybe they just want to play a different instrument?

    I think thats a personal thing. Alot of jazz drummers have/had alot of different preferences that were all pretty unique. I think of it as the more diverse generation of drummers back in the day.
