I also have ordered this snare all my live snares are 14x8 so looking forward to using this snare live..I bought the 15x5 last year when it was released it's an excellent snare at excellent value.

So I finished restoring the Ludwig Super Classic 70's Blue/Olive the kit is now 14"x22",14"x20",16"x18",14"x15",9"x13"(2),8"x12"..I mounted the 20" on a rack
It will stay in the drum room i'll use...

I got a 5x15 shipped to me in Ireland back in December best value for money you can get it sounds fantastic.Fell in love with it even with the Ludwig generic head which to be honest wasn't great....

I know that..What i was stating was in terms of hardware/bearing edge/build quality..I have a renown stored in my studio and my mate has a USA he brought his to me and we compared both and i can tell...
I have both a Renown and Classic Maple both are fantastic kits..But head choice and a good tuning ear are essential ..Personally i prefer the Ludwig as it's the kit i have wanted for many many...
Supra for me if i had to choose but live i use a 14"x8" classic maple..i have 10 Ludwig snares ranging from pre-serial 60's right up to 2012 models incorporating 70's,80's,90's and a new 15"x5"...
