I like 13" snares.
I have a 7X13 Black Magic that is a better drum than I expected....fit, finish, and sound.
The throw is arguably not up to par with the quality of the rest of the drum.
However,...

After almost 11 months, my band has a guitarist coming over tonight for a "no commitment jam" just to see if anything clicks.
AND....I think it's better than an even money bet that something clicks...
I've seen a few that might qualify.
But even those French fries have a standard to keep.
And it works...."rock" solid....

I created my own "bass drum stop" by using the 90 degree portion of a molded plastic crate and covering the floor portion with velcro so it grips my drum rug.
Works great and nobody can see it.
There are many great used kits out there (in good condition) selling in your price range.
I would add Ludwig Classic Maple and Gretsch Renown to your list.
All of these shells discussed here will...
I've got two ATLAS cymbal stands from 1973 that still work perfectly.
I will see Todd Sucherman again in a couple of weeks play a STYX show.
The band is better than ever right now.
If you can catch the tour, do it!
BOC was the opener for the '73 tour as well....impressive, yes.
I was surprised how they could all switch instruments.
OK -- at least he shut up (for now) -- I don't think it is ever a good idea to criticize a bandmate.
Either you are good enough for this band, or you are not.
I miss my guitar player (passed...
Man....those Performance lugs look so much better than the oversized gaudy shipyard hardware on the Collector's....good choice.
The green Yammys are pretty too.
I agree with Tom's idea here.
The bass player already said he might move on....
Go to the meeting with the band to see how it plays out -- could be that the best solution is for the rest of you...
Which insurance company are you using?
We all could use such a quick response time.
You are correct on the dw sponsors; they gave away more drum sets than any other maker for years to get that logo on stage.
And it worked.
I think dw makes excellent (pro line) drums....as do a lot...
Amazing how none of us (back then) didn't care what we used to muffle the bass drum....or how bad it looked.
I have similar pics myself.
Dwight......the Catch......busted play......not impressive.
Before Frisco, there were the Redskins and the Steelers.
THE CATCH was actually a play by Franco Harris.
The TD by that SF tight end was actually a busted play.
However, I suspect SF will be the...
Just when you make a coaching comment, Dak has a magical night.
That blind bootleg was really well done.
I first saw Jeff Beck at McFarland @ SMU, Dallas, November, 1968.
He was touring his debut album TRUTH with a new, unheard of lead singer named Rod Stewart.
Also in that band.....Nicky Hopkins,...
No doubt.....the tech advantages are remarkable.
I still have a thang for the old muscle cars.
I'd rather have that Mustang.
I had a '67 2+2, HP289....great car.
But those early '70s Mach cars were the bomb!
Next game = Thursday, 12/29, 7:15PM.
Thank you, dad.
The guys are excited to play again.
My band is moving forward.....even though we are still in a state of shock.
We now have a new rehearsal space.
And we will have an well-known excellent guitarist visit us in January for a "no...
