Re: Tom stands for 80s Pearl

But I do not want to have the toms mounted to the bass drum. Either s snare stand or a pearl stand. But the pearl stands I found also have a boom stand for a cymbal

Re: Tom stands for 80s Pearl

Yes! I adjust them. When I play them the toms start diving. Sometimes even with a guitar amp a metre away would make them drop, at home practice levels.

I can't use them for recording as they are...

Re: Tom stands for 80s Pearl

It could be worn out, but the drum itself do not seem like they have been used a lot. Either way, I'd like to get the toms off the bass drum and having separate stands. I believe it is better for...

Re: Tom stands for 80s Pearl

I'll take a picture. I would like separate stand. I' sure that the toms and kick together would be a problem. Would a tom and cymbal stand have interaction between the two elements or they are so...

    Tom stands for 80s Pearl

I bought a late 80's Pearl MLX kit for my recording studio. I noticed that the tom brackets are not really good. They dive just after a couple of strikes and dive towards the kick drum.I'm not sure...

    Re: Looking for some hardware

I have Yamaha seems like a 700, not bad, but thought I could find better?

There are Gibraltar sets available, 5700, 6700 and 8700. I have a couple of boom stands, what I do not like is that if you...

    Re: Looking to upgrade cymbals

Are the Zildjian A series really high end cymbals as these seem to be priced more in the mid range prices (A-custom)? The K-custom are priced closer the the HH HHX, Byzance etc...

    Re: Looking to upgrade cymbals

I'm in Europe so Meinl are priced very similarly to Zildian and Sabian. My problem is choosing a set for myself as there are at least 3/4 sets of each recommendation!

    Re: Looking to upgrade cymbals

Most seem to use light/medium cymbals and avoid heavy cymbals. Paiste 2002 rides seem to be favored a lot. But other than that opinions are all over the place.

    Re: Looking to upgrade cymbals

Yes I know that different drummers would have different taste and expectations. I'm looking for a set that I could use as a safety net. If the drummer comes in with a weak set of cymbals or damaged,...

    Re: Looking to upgrade cymbals

These would be used for recording. Most agree that if the cymbals are not very loud the recording comes better. I could see why, but I haven't had the opportunity to test this first hand as I have...

Re: Which tom should I use?

At the moment I have them tuned:
    12" to F#
    13" to D
    14" to E (snare)
    16" to A

Because I tuned them with a drum dial to the same tension. Am I doing this wrong?

Re: Which tom should I use?

If it helps, the kit is a Pearl MLX maple. it has a longs 'boing' sound and a lot of sustain with lower attack.

I am looking to add a drummer to my studio. The following are in my budget:

    Mapex armory series
    Pearl masters maple.

  25. Re: Best practice solution: Low volume cymbals and heads or electronic kit?

Yes this is my intention. Here I would have to pay for a used one more than I have to pay to get a new one.
