  1. Is everyone still using 303 Aerospace on their V drum rubber and cymbals?

I bought some of this eons ago and hoping it is still ok, doesn't go off in the bottle. Is everyone still using this? Has it stood the test of time doesn't turn all your stuff white or powdery etc?

  2. Re: Anyone recommend a decent drum throne brand?

The generic one I have now is quite a useable comfortable strong stool but as you say just doesn't really feel great. Bit of wobble and done everything to try and sort it to no avail. It's only...
  3. Re: Anyone recommend a decent drum throne brand?

There is one exactly like that here (Thailand) now for $120. But it is badged Dixon. Actually seen a few Dixon stools look exactly like Gibraltar whether one is copying the other or same company? I...

Re: Roland PDX-8 snare pad volume issue

The only reason I thought of it was suggested as a fix on a different kit Kick pedal I used to own to actuate the sensor in a similar way. hence I had plenty of these pads in the drawer lol
  5. Re: Anyone recommend a decent drum throne brand?

Yeah threaded rod turns me off to. What I have now but a generic brand. It's ok but does move a bit. I am hoping Dixon is better locking. You wouldn't think it would be too hard to design something...
  6. Anyone recommend a decent drum throne brand?

Just wondering what are decent brand drum thrones? Ones that actually do lock at the height you set them too and the actual locking / lock screw systems work and the chair itself is nice and stable....

Re: Roland PDX-8 snare pad volume issue

Got it all sorted out. Was the foam pad that sits on the piezo and contacts the mesh. Must have been a bit compressed or something. Put a small felt stick on to raise the height, like you put on the...

Roland PDX-8 snare pad volume issue

Got a TD-11K kit today and noticed the snare was about 20% down on volume compared to the rest of the kit. The kit has been factory reset and all levels around the same. I noticed it was weak because...
  9. Anyone playing their snare drum without snare wires?

Been noticing quite a few mainly rock songs lately....sounds almost like they aren't using snare wires. Not an unpleasant sound at all. Like a very tightly tuned tom rather than a crack. Do people do...

Re: Best way to gently clean cymbals

No marks yet as such. Just getting a bit of dust and finger mark. Loathe to put any professional creams or cleaners on them as I always seem to kill things with kindness lol. Last leather couch I had...

Best way to gently clean cymbals

Got a nice set of Paiste PST-8, very brilliant finish. Not old or tarnished in anyway but can see starting to get a few light marks and dusty. Not really keen on using any sort of cream or anything...

    Paiste PST-8 opinions / advice

Just bought a set of these hoping they would be like the Alpha's. I just jumped straight in thinking PST-8's were the top of the range PST series. This isn't the case of course. Very happy with the...

Re: Kick pedal technique....need some tips

It's the little things. If you don't feel comfortable you wont play well. I am lucky got a really nice smooth easy Yamaha HH pedal and great light touch little Pearl kick. Can back the tension way...
  14. Re: Transporting drums to a gig in the back of a pick up truck

Just picked up a great cheap little tip off another forum, and sort of so obvious but I never thought of it....just a large storage box. Will be perfect for my kit as the Floor tom and snare only 13"...
  15. Transporting drums to a gig in the back of a pick up truck

Looking for idea here. Normally would put them inside the cabin on the back seat for cushioning but unfortunately don't have the room.
I am guessing stacking them not a good idea. I have some big...

Re: Kick pedal technique....need some tips

Thanks bro, been experimenting a little further and find it is well worth while making sure you start with the right seating position as well. For me a couple of inches too far forward or back makes...
  17. Can anyone recommend some good all round tom heads

Been out of the game for a while with E drums and looking for some nice tom heads. Normally my go to used to be pinstripes more likely because I wasn't really aware how to tune and pinstripes and...

Re: Kick pedal technique....need some tips

I worked out the spring was still a little tight. I thought if I loosened it off too much I'd lose speed but seem to have found a happy medium. Ankle joint really fatigued before, thought maybe was...

    Re: Practice Kit Options

Bit late to the party but for anyone else stumbles across this thread I am also a Roland V drums owner and have just bought a Midtown and it is an exceptional little kit in every way. My plan was to...
  21. Pearl Midtown owners, what are your thoughts on the kit?

Got mine and frankly blown away. The snare drum tuned in minutes....definitely likes a high tuning on batter and reso but very easy to balance. Not so fat but huge crack. Kick tom equally great...
