    Yes -- Fragile -- 50th Anniversary

This album was a real game-changer for me.........hard to believe it has been 50 years.
Nine months earlier, there were very strong hints of their new sound coming from The Yes Album; Steve Howe had...

    Sticky: Re: Gretsch Drums Discussion

    Rich !
Glad to see you back.........I don't post much, but I still check in often.
Love both the new kits; an old friend of mine has a USA kit in Rosewood..........always beautiful.
    I retired at...

    Re: Possible Dream Kit today?

    Makes sense.
The Gretsch website doesn't mention the reissue in their badge history, but I've heard about this before.
In addition, those tom mounts certainly don't jive with 1981.
    You are going...

    Re: Possible Dream Kit today?

    That drop G badge had a limited era..........1981 ?
I have a friend in Texas that has a SSB kit in Rosewood Gloss..........really pretty.

Re: Another kit for me! Rukus Mod Orange Club

Wasn't that wrap originally a provision from Ludwig ?
  8. Re: Do You Play With Your Teeth? Dave Grohl Does

    Done it my whole life.
In fact my "teeth kit" sounds better than the kits I see and hear in local bars.
  9. Re: Yes another new drum set for MDK..blah, blah, blah...

That has to be a QC issue; I think that hoop was out-of-round before it was installed.
The history of Gretsch reflects that cast hoops were originally introduced as a way to create a physically...

Re: Phil Collins can't play drums anymore

    Yes...…..sad.
Bad feet; bad hands...…..not good news for a drummer.
Retire and try to enjoy a quiet life well earned.

    Re: Count me in (Netflix)

    Thanks......I'll check it out.
Me and the wife really enjoyed all 6 entries of McCartney 3-2-1.
A lot of fun to see what pops into his mind the second he is played a Beatles tune from studio tapes....
  12. Re: How much is to much?! Gigging in one weekend that is...

    Spaz...……….
I like to play gigs with new sticks...……..I use Firth.
The lacquer coat on brand new Firth sticks will give me blisters and my hands really hurt (almost always on the snare/left side)....

Re: which should I get and why?

    I agree with these guys.
If you want Mapex, think Saturn; if you want Tama, think Starclassic.
You will not appreciate the lower lines of either for long.
Between the two, my choice would be Tama.

    Re: Ssb/usa

    Love those similar sizes, Rick.
During the 70s, those oversized shells were the norm.
Glad we both stuck with them all of these years.
I still believe the 24 bass is the bomb.

    Ssb/usa

I received my shipment of Gretsch USA shells 44 years ago today (8/26/77).
The lacquer coat is all spider-webbed but otherwise, good as new.

    Re: Ludwig Maple/Birch Shells

As of yesterday, this kit is no longer available.
Since buyers expected me to just give it away, I decided to do that.
It was donated to the music school I attended in the 70s; they were very...

  19. Re: Charlie Watts out, Steve Jordan in / Rolling Stones tour 2021

The Stones have never sought the most musical or technical approach.
They (to me) are more like the World's most famous and successful garage band.
In that context, there are thousands of drummers...

Re: The Best Crash Cymbal Ever Made

I would never categorically deny any brand as inferior.....you need to hear the cymbal itself with a kit involved.
Real drummers go to the cymbal room at Memphis Drum Shop......not YouTube.
