    Re: Frank Beard drum sets

    Such silliness.
And yet the best show I ever saw him play was two weeks before their first album was released.....
Frank played a 5-pc. Fibes acrylic....not silly....looked and sounded great.

Re: What genre of music do you play.

    Classic rock.....
I prefer "prog" but my bandmates hate the time it takes to work up a prog song.
Far too technical to put together quickly.

    Re: Road Trip

    No worries.
Our objective was to visit the six states we had never seen before.
    Minnesota -- S. Dakota -- N. Dakota -- Montana -- Idaho -- Alaska
We threw in 8 more on the trip back...

    Motels....
    Drove a CR-V and got 31 mpg.
Least expensive gas was Little Rock, AR. @ $2.95.
Most expensive gas was Washington state average = $5.09.

South Dakota was a beautiful state....all over, but especially the SW quarter.
Glacier Park, MT is just jaw dropping amazing......as are parts of Yellowstone.

    Road Trip

I just returned from a 42-day (7,600 mile) road trip.
I got to see the 6 states that I had not yet seen....now, I've been to all 50, including Alaska....a bucket list item complete.
    Lots of...

    Sticky: Re: Yamaha Drums discussion

I used a Rydeen set for a rehearsal room for a few years....good enough for practice.
    I got the bass to sound good;
    The toms are just OK....not great;
The snare is obnoxious....very sharp and too...

Re: A New Beginning 2, too, with a twist

    When it rains, it pours.
I don't want to be stuck in two bands at one time.
On the other hand, if we have an agreement, there are no longer any good venues around here that I like to play.

Re: TAMA Warlord Masai 13x6 Unplayed with Tags

    I like 13" snares.
I have a 7X13 Black Magic that is a better drum than I expected....fit, finish, and sound.
The throw is arguably not up to par with the quality of the rest of the drum.
    However,...

    A New Beginning?

After almost 11 months, my band has a guitarist coming over tonight for a "no commitment jam" just to see if anything clicks.
AND....I think it's better than an even money bet that something clicks...

I've seen a few that might qualify.
But even those French fries have a standard to keep.

    Re: Bass drum creep

I created my own "bass drum stop" by using the 90 degree portion of a molded plastic crate and covering the floor portion with velcro so it grips my drum rug.
Works great and nobody can see it.
  21. Re: Returning to the Kit and Needing an Overhaul --

There are many great used kits out there (in good condition) selling in your price range.
I would add Ludwig Classic Maple and Gretsch Renown to your list.
All of these shells discussed here will...

I will see Todd Sucherman again in a couple of weeks play a STYX show.
The band is better than ever right now.

BOC was the opener for the '73 tour as well....impressive, yes.
I was surprised how they could all switch instruments.

    Re: Time to Leave Band?

OK -- at least he shut up (for now) -- I don't think it is ever a good idea to criticize a bandmate.
Either you are good enough for this band, or you are not.
I miss my guitar player (passed...
