How was the gig Mike? It sure looks like you had a good time ahead of you.

Happiness is getting to spend time with your kids and grandkids . . . especially when they think you're the coolest. Yeah, I've got them fooled, for now. :icon_cool:

Great job behind the kit, MDK. Oh, and the other guys were pretty good, too.

There's definitely not a bad comedian in that bunch! Every one of them got me laughing, and I'm sure it made life a little easier for me.

That's a beautiful snare, and being solid maple is awesome.

    Sticky: Re: Gretsch Drums Discussion

So I'm curious which way your brother went. I had a 4 piece 80's Catalina Elite Jazz kit with an 18" kick. I recently let it go in favor of keeping my 6 piece Catalina Maple kit, mainly because I...

I enjoy watching you play Rick. It all looks so effortless . . . like you've done it a million times . . . unless you start channeling Foster Brooks! :icon_wink:

GeeDeeEmm, I love the White Marine Pearl! I recently gave a 4 piece Gretsch Catalina Elite jazz kit to a friend, and it was wrapped in White Marine Pearl. I just think that is such a cool look.

    Re: Curious...

I had to pair down the number of snares in preparation for the move to Missouri. I sold off my Tama Warlord Masai snare (beautiful to look at, but I could never get a sound I loved out of it), and I...

I thought that picture looked familiar. I have drooled in the Forks Drum Closet snare room a number of times.

    Re: Gone Waaay Too Long

Yeah, they went through a few typhoons while they were there, so I'm glad they weren't any worse. It sure has been fun hanging out with them in my retirement. Oh, and the Angels flag made the cut...

Re: Tuning the snare drum- newbe question.

When I get a new snare, I tune the batter head to find the sweet spot of the snare. If the snare is a 14" with 6" or 7" depth, then it will naturally favor a deeper tone, vs. one that is a 5" depth....

Wow Zack! Reading through this thread from the beginning has been fun. It's been mostly fun because it wasn't me that was doing it. Can't wait to see it all finished. Lol

    Re: Gone Waaay Too Long

Hi Bob. I have to admit that I didn't get into the Fort Campbell area very much. The church I served was actually about 20 minutes south of Clarksville on Hwy 48. Most of the time in Clarksville...

    Re: Gone Waaay Too Long

It's kind of crazy when you think about it, but this last church had so many things that had to be worked out that I just had to put all my time and energy into it. I can only hope that some of what...

    Re: Gone Waaay Too Long

OldeEnglishD, I actually questioned whether I should bring my 6 piece Catalina kit. I thought it made more sense to let it go, and to keep the smaller 4 piece. My daughter told me that she talked...

Re: Kit you've had the longest?

The kit I've had the longest is a 6 piece Gretsch Catalina Maple. I bought it in 2007, after starting out on a Ddrum D2 stencil kit the year before. I have convinced myself that the drummer...

    Gone Waaay Too Long

    Re: Why 2 floor toms

I guess the reason that I play a kit with a second floor tom is for the same reason that I have more than just a couple of cymbals on the kit - I love the additional sound palette. It also doesn't...
