  1. Re: pearl world series vs exports what's the difference

My mistake.I thought the early W.S. were maple. These drums have received great reviews. And welcome Bushwacker
  2. Re: pearl world series vs exports what's the difference

World series are 5 ply maple.Exports are a 6 ply blend of poplar and mahogany.

Re: Kit you've had the longest?

In 1970 I bought a three piece Red Mist Ludwig Standard set.The snare is still in rotation. The bass is part of my small practice/jamming set.Lost the tom in a garage fire.

Ice is the worst.I'll take a foot of snow over a quarter inch of ice.

    Re: Parade Snare Drums

I think Tom is correct also.Back in the 60's and 70's it was Weather Kings. Now it is Kevlar.I think they are just tuning for feel.Pipe band drummers probably tune to a specific pitch.

    Re: Parade Snare Drums

Don't know the history but I think most music/band directors don't know how to tune so they just crank as tight as they can.

I know they made 14 in. rack toms. You could convert one or hang it from a cymbal stand. Look on Ebay or Reverb.
