For those of you who use a Roland SPD-30, I have a question.
I have my SPD-30 set up to trigger electronic sounds to layer over my acoustic sounds. I built some custom kits on the Octapad to...
I've done that, but I've had issues in the past with malware when I pick at random from the sites that come up. Can you recommend a favorite site that you've had good luck with?
I got an Alesis Sample Pad Pro last year, and I've been playing around with creating loops for it. I'm pretty new at the electronic side of drumming, so I'm just working with the basics here. The...
[QUOTE=late8;670143]Since you are exclusively a Zildjian guy, my suggestion would be the 20" K Custom Dry Ride.

I got a Sample Pad Pro a few months ago, and so far I've mostly just been playing around with the onboard sounds and the ones from the sample library that Alesis has available online. Now I'm...
It's WAY too loud behind a drum shield to be playing without hearing protection. Use a pair of noise canceling in-ear monitors. Shure sells a totally decent pair for a hundred clams.
Anyone at all?
I've been wanting to add a sample pad for a while now, to move into a hybrid kit. I've gone back and forth between buying a used SPD-S and the new Sample Pad Pro. Both sell for about $300. I...
Thanks for the links. Those were helpful.
I've been looking for a certain piece of gear for a long time, and I found it for what seems like an really low price ($226 vs. everyone else's $299). But the website looks a little sketchy, and I'm...
No, but an event like this can be a good way to meet other local drummers and have some fun. If nothing else, I would like to just hear some other drummers do their thing. I don't get to hear live...
OK, so speaking of the octopad, how important is it that you incorporate that in the solo? (This is especially a question for you, drummer5359, since you've judged these.) I don't have one, so...
Title pretty much says it all. I've been kicking around the idea for a couple years, but it's a bit of a drive. Still, I think it would be fun.
Thoughts from past participants also welcome.

That's funny. To each his own, I guess.
Yea, I got the spindle version (the bottom pic) for this very reason -- it can get plenty high, but also can go lower than any other throne I've seen. It can go low enough to play a 14" djembe with...
...on your kit, other than your hi-hats, what would it be? Basically, I'm asking about the most versatile, all-around cymbal in your whole collection (or that you've ever played).
I'll go...
Agreed. That's my dream steel snare. But having not found a grand in my couch cushions last time I looked, I opted for the Taye Metalworks Stainless 6.5 x 14 instead. Taye is making some good gear...
I really like the way a Paiste 10" Signature splash and a Zildjian 8" A Custom splash sound paired together. Check it out if you get a chance.
Thanks for the kind words everyone!
Pretty sure it's the initials of the founder. RMV is a family operation in Brazil -- since 1975, according to the badges.
Here's my RMV Bapeva shell kit (I posted a few other pics of it in another thread a little while ago):

And my Mapex Saturn IV kit:

Last week, I had my first chance to try out the new RMV kit at a gig. I was really happy with it. I'm still playing around with tunings and heads for the floor toms -- I ended up using an RMV...
If brushes and bundle sticks aren't giving you the tone you want, try a pair of Vic Firth SD5 Echo sticks. I got a pair for a gig I played this last week that required a lot of volume control. The...
