Any recommendations for headphones that will be a better choice?

They're an old pair of Sony headphones. I'm sure they're not top of the line but I don't know why they would cause distortion.

I thought that might be the case but was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. Haven't played through an amp yet so I can't say if the distortion is just a headphone problem.

I recently purchased the Yamaha DTX500 kit and noticed when playing with headphones that I cannot get any kind of decent volume without distortion especially the kick drum. Any suggestions?
