    Re: A good drummer?

THIS ^, and LISTENING to the rest of the band.

And for the inexperienced player - ignoring the cliche's that inexperienced musicians throw around about "bad" drummers.

    Once you become a good...

Say it out loud. Screen names can be funny. Take care of you.
  4. Re: Do you find drums strengthen your body? Or weaken it?

THIS. For most of my drumming career, I wore earplugs or headphones. It's the upper midrange and high frequencies that will get you first (CYMBALS). Always protect your hearing because once it's...

Re: i've run out of ideas!!!

I highly recommend playing with some other musicians instead of the stereo. That will get your heels in line and your tempo tempered.

    Re: Stool

Since the obvious toilet jokes have passed,

I sit with my thighs about parallel to the floor. I feel the best calf response there.

If my butt is any higher off the floor, after a few minutes,...

Re: What makes a drummer professional

Professional means only that you make your living by doing it. Calling someone a professional doesn't mean a thing. It is not a synonym for expert.

We've all seen amateur experts and lame pros....

Re: The 'Thought of the Day' Thread

Ehh, wouldn't work for me. If it were my last day, I'd be doing some strange things that I can't get away with every day. Too many eyebrows would be raised. :shifty:

    Re: Corrupt A Wish Game

Bob, you see the future. Bummer that the TV part consists of American Idol-type shows 24/7, and DrumChat is now NunChat.

If only I had a brain....

    Re: Corrupt A Wish Game

You have a DVD player in your room, but the only DVDs you have are your grandparents' Jack Benny collections. Relax and enjoy them. It's not such a bad thing.

    I wish I had a gigantic package.

    Re: Tempo

Time, tempo, and groove have definitions.

Time is the absolute space between notes.

Tempo is the overall speed of the song/piece.

Groove is something that the drummer and the rest of the...
