With the newer lineup, they have moved to more classic "Gretsch" features...
30 deg edge, 5 lugs on 12" toms and smaller... and new round badge. I like the toms sizes on their latest...

I did the one kit thing for a while... But the significant part was having an extra set of hardware that I keep bagged up. Having to pack up just the shells isn't too bad if the HW is ready to go....

Not sure where you live, but if you have a little patience you should be able to find a really nice kit...
