Hi folks, not an introduction but a re-introduction. Used to be a regular on here about 6 or 7 years ago, then I lost my drum room (kids wanted a bedroom!), then I tried to play e-kit and hated it,...

There are plenty of places I can get material from, but I don't recall seeing anything in the kind of price range your talking about. When you say 4x8, you mean feet right? Most acoustic tiles are...
Thanks, any idea what they are made of, or a brand name? We don't have Home Depot in the UK so I'd need to work out what the equivalent is.
Thanks! It's so nice to have the acoustic kit out again, and especially with so much room to move about in. My old room was about the same size as the kit so setting up was a nightmare. Here's a...
A few pics,
The important bit, the kit.

Inside of the walls is already filled with rockwool. I'm effectively making the walls thicker and looking to put in a bit more absorption while I'm at it. I'm not expecting it to make a massive...
Hi everyone, long time no post as my drums have been packed away in the attic for two years. But, I have recently finished building a new soundproof studio at the bottom of my garden, so will soon be...
If you liked the TD-6, see if you can find a second hand TD-6V, which comes with a mesh snare as standard. Nice little kit, although the hi hat pedal is rubbish unless you modify it (which isn't...
I had planned to get an Alesis, but read so many bad things about them online, especially relating to build quality, that I decided to stay away. I've ended up with a second hand Roland Td-6V, which...

My new e-kit bought (used) to replace my analogue kit which I've had to pack away in the attic due to lack of space. This lot lives...
I'm also looking to switch from Analogue to Electronic, but in my case it's because I need a more compact kit that can be folded away, so putting triggers on my drums isn't a runner.
I've had my...
And as you say I can easily add a better hat and then have a four Tom layout as well. Combined with the SPD I think this'll be a good setup.
Thanks for all the advice, I'm much more comfortable...
Yes, the TD-6v comes with a mesh snare, and all the toms are dual zone, so better than the Alesis on both counts. If the Roland kit is as hard wearing as it's reputation this looks to be a better bet.
From, not for;)
Getting cold feet on the Alesis now as the Internet seems to be full of people saying they fall apart and are made like toys.
I don't do thrash metal or heavy gigging, but...
I see the link to the manufacturer's website was removed, if you go to the Alesis website it's not hard to find the DM8 USB page.
I've read that in a number of reviews, so will definitely make...
Not sold myself on the 8 yet, but have dismissed the 7X as I want to use my double kick pedal.
This is the kit in question
Looking at it again I think the snare might be rubber anyway. I...
Answering a bit of my own question, it seems that the 'stealthkick' is a compact trigger and to use my double kick pedal I'd need to buy a second one, as they are too small for two beaters to fit on...
My local music store has these in stock for £420 new, which looks to be a very good price for what you get, but reviews seem a bit thin on the ground. What I have been able to find have been...
Thanks everyone, I'm much reassured that I'm not about to destroy my drum!
There is certain elegance to this solution. :icon_mrgreen:
Thanks for all the replies folks, most helpful!
Ok, I can see that, the plastic will trap moisture in as much as keeping it out. So the low temp won't make any difference?
What about...
Due to limited space in the house, I've had to give up my drum room to allow my two boys to have separate bedrooms. My youngest is autistic and that's tough to share with.
I'm in the process of...
On its own or in conjunction with a kit? I'm really looking emulate an acoustic kit layout, as that's what I'd rather be playing! :)
Wow, you can't get much more portable than that! Certainly interesting, but being 6'4 would it be cramped with my long arms and legs?
Long time no post! Sadly I had to give up my drum room last year, as my eldest son needed a bedroom of his own (my youngest is autistic, which is tough to share a room with), so I've been a year now...
