Re: Gong drum or 18" floor tom

I would like both. I really like big, deep sounding drums so these are both right up my style. I probably wouldn't use the gong drum that much, but I think in small quantities it could be really...

Lol, that is awesome. I would love one of those. How does it sound?
  3. Re: Surprised I can't find a motorcycle thread! Let's start one!

Wow, that is a really sweet looking bike. I've wanted one very similar to that for a long time now. But what are the two small wheels on the back wheel in the second picture?

Poll: Re: Cover Band or Original Music? - POLL

I prefer to play all originals except for one or two covers of something classic like Zeppelin or Sabbath.

I'll be on tour this fall.

  7. Re: What Does The Future Look Like For Weekend Warriors?

Where I live there are several good clubs that are difficult to get into the first time, but become easier if you play well and can get a good draw. While I agree live music isn't as popular right...

    Re: Drumsticks > $

I agree good sticks are the way to go, but if you do buy cheap sticks, you can tape them up before you use them and they will last a lot longer.

Re: Still looking for a small kit

That's a cool setup with the ride on the bass. I may have to try that out.

Re: If you had a million dollars...

Right there are a lot of options. Plus, I don't see how 1 million by itself isn't a lot of money. That's 28 times the average teacher salary and while they are vastly underpaid, they still earn...

Re: If you had a million dollars...

I would invest it and live off the interest for the rest of my life. If you live within your means, a million dollars is more than enough to support you.

    Re: Tommy Lee

I've never really cared for hair rock in general, but you can't deny the bands had energy. I wonder what was big in the 80's that would have given them so much energy?

    Re: Taking the wraps off

I'd say definitely do it. I took the wrap off of my drums like six months ago and just spray painted them and they turned out well.

    Re: Drum Cases

I do not use cases. Personally I am okay with nicks and scratches on my drums, I think they give them some character and as long as I am pretty careful with the drums, none of the damage is too bad.

Re: Playing with Pre Recorded Drums

It is the dancing, people need something strong to latch onto and digital does make that easier to do as well as allowing the vocalist to interact more with the crowd. That's pop for you.

    Re: Auditions

I think he is talking about someone who has played in casual bands and not done more strenuous gigging and then them getting burned out by it. I could be wrong, though.

Re: Playing with Pre Recorded Drums

Haha yeah, I felt the same way, but it is fun stuff to play and as long as people are dancing it should be all good. Plus the singer for my main band moved so we are trying to figure out what we are...

    Playing with Pre Recorded Drums

I recently joined an electronic/pop act. Until this time, I had only played in alternative experimental bands, usually with a real loose feel. The act I just joined is completely different. The main...

    Re: Band practice time ?

I guess if you are just playing covers you might not need much rehearsing or practice, but if you are trying to write things or get really good chemistry with your band members, it's pretty necessary.

That sounded really great. Your guys cover of sex on fire was spot on. Looked like a fun show.

I like a drum solo when the rest of the band is still playing, but the drums are doing the leads. Similar to a guitar solo. I mean, I don't like just listening to a guitar player soloing without the...
