yeah, uh, don't cut that drum down. Snare beds. Vintage drums lose their value if you cut new bearing edges too.

Floor tom. More versatile. That being said, I own an 18" and have used it at all of 1 gig total. Might use it more if I had a case for it, and wasn't partial to smaller bass drums.

worst case scenario you will be able to find tube lugs for 2" spacing. But each is different. I think DW's hole spacing is 1 3/8" for example.
