  1. Re: Use of having a crash-ride cymbal and a ride cymbal?

There is no firm answer anyone can give to this. It simply depends on what you like and how you play. There are some drummers who use ride cymbals only and have no crashes. There are others who have...

  3. Re: Smaller Tom sounding deeper than bigger Tom

Do not underestimate the impact of the resonator (bottom head) on the overall tone/pitch of the drum. It is quite possible to tune the batter (top) head to a pitch but for this to change...

Re: My unpopular opinion of Ozone crashes

To me they ozones and chinas are different things. However, I do find ozones to be more versatile if one were to have to choose between the two. I have a Sabian AAX 18" ozone which I love! Great as...

    Accessories Case/Bag Advice

Following a few changes in the bands I'm now playing in, I now only need to take my full kit to gigs with both rehearsal studios having at least the drums in place with me just adding in my own...

Re: Can a snare stand affect sound?

Snare sound can vary significantly depending on how firm the basket is tightened to grip the snare. The tighter it is, the more the drum will be restricted in its sound. Other than that, there may be...

Re: Ahead Spinal G Deluxe Drum Throne

I use this throne and it is simply the best throne I have ever used and would highly recommend it. You can purchase it with or without a base unit which is particularly useful if you already have one...

    Re: Evans EC2 vs G2

Both are great heads with drummers having a preference depending on lots of variables and opinions. I've used both and have been happy with both. However, I've settled on coated G2's over clear G1's...

    Re: Cymbal Angle

I'm not sure it's a trend so much but more something I've noticed a slight increase in prominence. Anika Nilles is another good example of this kind of setup who seems to know her way around a drum...

Re: I hate when that happens!

This is why I have used the Vic Firth Nova sticks for years without issue. They are the same stick but are not 'perfect' i.e. the wood grain may have a slight discoloration. Otherwise, I find them to...

    Re: Why 2 floor toms

It's all a preference thing and whilst there will always be fads, certain trends start for a reason; they just work!

Re: Black box instead of a video

Works fine on Firefox. Very rarely touch IE as I've found lots of this kind of issue in the past. Plus, it takes much longer to load stuff compared to 'thinner' apps such as Firefox and Chrome.

With in ear monitoring, I cannot hear much of anything unless (particularly with any clarity) its fed to my monitor mix. Part of the reason I prefer IEM's is that it prevents much of the potential...

    Re: Mapex VX assistance please.

Yep, I was pretty happy with my V Series sound. Good heads and tuned well, most drums shape up fine so long as the hardware is up to scratch to hold said heads and tuning.

    Re: Mapex VX assistance please.

I'm pretty certain the VX, like the V series, was 100% basswood. The ISO tom mounts on the VX look like this:

    Re: 2nd kit decisions

Yep, love it! The 12" and 16" toms are perfect together so will often use them for a 1 up 1 down config. The 14" provides that middle step in the tone but I find is trickier to tune for some reason.
