Throw in here... Buddy Rich on the Tonight show as a kid, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida wow how long was that! Ginger Baker, Sunshine of your Love, Toad (OMG!), Billy Cobham with Mahavishnu Orchestra and my...
Well just to update I went to see the set and bought it and all the hardware and cymbals for $1300 (not the sled). The kit has some scratches and dings but overall looks good. Here it is in pieces...
What about these then? It not the best picture but if I could get this seller down to $1100 or $1200. Renowns with hardware and some cymbals?

Thanks for the thoughts. Yes I read through the Gretsch stickies and threads. My gal keeps threating to put an ad out saying drummer for hire, LOL. Saying I need to stop just playing for myself...
what about this Gretsch I found locally? Seller claims it is brand new Gretsch Catalina Club. They dropped the price from $1600 (way too high) to $1250 still think it's on the high side. I already...
Being kind of a Tama guy I'd say the Starclassic Performer would be a great upgrade after Rockstars. Can do all the Metal or other styles really well.
Tama Imperial Stars bought them in 1974 new from my Drum Teacher, Dick Wilshaw in NJ.

I'll take the Mustang... less maintenance.
Homestyle Blue Man group!
Nice setup i-player. I'm as they say comfortable, but no sacks of money, plus I like my Tama Star Classic as is. I'm a few inches shy of 6' too so... maybe a hybrid rack or a tom tom holder. This...
Good idea for playing out for sure. I'm in a spot where I can keep the Tama Star Classic birch/bubinga in the house and have a playing out set. That said my playing out set is two mounted toms so...
BTW what is the rack hardware on the Gretsch set? thx
and they wondered why the kid wasn't any good on the set..?!
that must be the snare from "Whiplash" ;)
hybrid rack looks like a nice option ... cut my Birch/Bubinga shells???? Nevar! I can see buying Hyper drive toms which are shallower. Love the DW stripey finish on that one set!
I love muscle cars, they were new when I was young. I loved Bullitt and Steve McQueen was so cool because he really drove race cars too. Hmmm I'll start my car fund now and buy less sticks. LOL
I've played a traditional setup for decades, one snare, two mounted toms over bass drum and one or two floor toms to the right. I've always been slightly frustrated that I can't lower my mounted...
they did a cool deal for me on phone and a YouTube drummer I follow.. Dude Harry Miree loves them too but he's a pro based in Nashville.
sorry for late but I work crazy hours like just a whole lot... k=no my stand has a fat allen screw. maybe it should have an adjuster..?
FWIW I'm old enough to have done the go to the big city and find the dealers who always had a "deal" then go up and down the street checking the others. As in "Sam Goody is sell it for ,,," "we'll...
and... nada ok
got no knurled well this pushes the lower hat upwards for your chip sound so the allen screw meets the lower hat. and yes the captive nut seems to be useless I expected it's supposed to tighten down...
I have a Tama Iron Cobra Hihat a few years old but I'm a recreational drummer (no band, play for fun now) and it doesn't get a lot of moving around, packing/unpacking. The allen head screw for...
