    i start with the floor tom and work my way up. reso first, then batter to same pitch then adjust down to correct sustain for my taste then tune in ascending 4ths.

    at home i have a 6piece with 6 rides and a double pedal. at gigs though i prefer a 4 or at most a 5 piece with less than 4 cymbals. i guess i prefer easier load in.
