Re: What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving?

Going to my brother and sister in law's. Going to try not to eat too much so that I'm not still stuffed the next day, because I have a gig that night and I don't play well under the influence of...

    Re: DW buys Slingerland

Back in 1980 when I bought my Slingerlands, the brand was already declining, being surpassed by Tama and other companies. I just wanted a kit with a known brand, a step up from my CB700s, because my...

    Re: Band Drama

As usual, the hardest part about being in a band is not the music, it's the relationships among the members. It's often been said being in a band is like being married to 4(or more) people. If the...

    Re: Audix Mic System

Zack, check out Miktek drum mics. They have a couple of drum mic kits at 2 different price points. They are great sounding, with very high quality components sourced internationally and assembled...
  7. Re: Use of having a crash-ride cymbal and a ride cymbal?

I just got my first crash ride, an 18 A Zildjian. I got it mostly to cut down on the number of cymbals to bring to gigs with small stage areas.
I did find that it's not the best crash or ride. I...

Re: Over Rated Drummers? Who's yours?

It occurs to me that people are misunderstanding the premise here somewhat. For someone to be "over" rated I would think that they have to be highly rated to begin with by most people, but then some...

    Re: 25 in my collection!

I might catch up to you in the cymbal category, but I'll never touch you when it comes to kits, and never be anywhere NEAR you on snares!

    25 in my collection!

With my latest acquisition, a Zildjian A Series 18" crash ride, I now have 25 cymbals in my collection(I count a pair of hi hats as 1). The reason for the crash ride is for minimalist setups where...

Re: Just got a gig offer

In the Long Island, NY and surrounding areas, tribute bands are considered upper tier bands, and the good ones generally get the better gigs in the better rooms. Some venues book tribute bands...

Re: Just got a gig offer

Sounds like a great opportunity. If it feels right after running through the songs, jump on it. I'm right behind you age wise, and I'm not ready to throw in the sticks, yet.

    Re: Thoughts.....

I think if they're air drumming along to an iconic fill like the one in In The Air Tonight, they're demonstrating that they know the part and that this is where it comes up in the song. Generally...

Re: 20" K ride completes the set. maybe

Just picked up a used 18" K Dark Crash, really clean and in great shape for less than half the price of new. Really loving the K Series. I have found my ride, hats and 4 crashes either on FB...

    Re: How is everyone?

I joined in 2010, right around the time I got back into playing after about a 25 year hiatus while my kids were young. Now I'm in 2 bands, I've accumulated a crap-load of gear, and my wife hasn't...

Re: 20" K ride completes the set. maybe

I had a gig Sunday afternoon and I took out all Ks - including the ride and the 17" crash for the first time. Loved the clean ping and minimal wash of the ride as well as the sound of the crash.
  18. Re: I've finally reach that point ,no more drum buying

I'm at the point now where I don't see myself buying any more drum kits. I've been picking up cymbals lately, as well as hardware and some PA gear, but I think I'm done with large purchases.

20" K ride completes the set. maybe

Just picked up an open box K Zildjian ride in mint condition for a great price. Along with the Custom Dark hats and 15 and 16" crashes, I now have a complete set of K's I can alternate with a set of...
  21. Re: WOW The best cymbals I have ever heard!!

My first hi hats were UFIP. I got them as a Christmas gift. Someone in Sam Ash gave my parents good advice in selecting them. That was almost 40 years ago. Sadly I don't have them anymore. I...

If you're that close, you gotta go! It's a big campus now and they have concerts in their auditorium. They are adding another 350,000 square feet next year.
