Re: Teaser photo.. Olive wood Stave Snare

You see no value in being able to switch heads in about 27 seconds... all tuned and ready to play? I don't need one but it's a cool idea.

Re: Teaser photo.. Olive wood Stave Snare

I can see the std tuning rods now in the pic BFD supplied and how the system works. Pretty neat in a way. My only worry would be how they hold up over time and use with all those moving parts, hinge...

Re: Teaser photo.. Olive wood Stave Snare

I was guessing it was a quick rim release, but man it looks like it could be a real chore tuning it. Or are the tensioners accessible somehow we can't see. Allen wrench? Are the rims special too? I...

  7. Re: My wife and I just returned from vacation.

Zack, you probably haven't made it to Drum Center NH have you? It's hardly worth a trip from WI but if you're ever remotely eastward it would blow your mind. Drum heaven.

    Re: Reaching drummer maturityŚ

Time is important but my Lord there is no reason a musical group has to be mono temponic (?) I hear guys all the time who are so over-concious of iron tempo and trying to prevent the band from...

    Re: Dunnett titanium snare drum

Nice. Classy. I have titanium parts on my sportbike. Just judging by the feel and appearance of it my intuition says it should kind of be a cross between aluminum and steel, shell-wise. Hard as hell...

    Re: PDP 20th Anniversary Kit

On the bright side it comes with a 16" tom. You would have been looking to add a 12" X 14".

Re: NEW Ludwig Speed King is coming

Yeah I was probably looking at the second, new pedal pic. Actually the internal compression system is way MORE complicated than the newer and standard stretch method. Looks cleaner I suppose FWIW.

Re: NEW Ludwig Speed King is coming

The Speed King stretches its spring. It doesn't compress the spring. I learned on a Speed King and it was hard to move on to modern pedals after the Swivo-o-matics I replaced the SKs with. But I...
  16. Re: Drums and Drumsets made with a 3D Printer

I don't know what that material is like but it looks kind of porous and non resonant. On the other hand there is no bending stress whatsoever so that's a plus. If you could print with a hard...

    Where there's a will, there's a way...or...the Lord works in mysterious ways.
Retirement can take getting used to for many but I think you'll learn to love it. I did right from the start!!!
  18. Re: Fans Storm Knotfest Stage & Burn Evanescence Drums After Cancellation

We can be a funny bunch!
If I was playing that kind of music for that kind of people I would not use my good drums, and/or have a very capable and prepared security team!
  19. Re: New birthday treat for me....hi hat stand

I'm considering a short cable remote stand just so I can nestle my 8" tom at 10:00 10:30 along my snare without the hi-hat upright tube interfering. Then I can have the hats an inch or two higher and...

Re: Don't Judge Me.... Another Snare

I like both Remo and Evans. I think the Remos are a bit richer in pleasing overtones/harmonics. Evans seem a hair more focused around the fundamental.

    Sticky: Re: Sonor Drums Discussion

Wow! Another squished-ball L-rod tom mount ala 70s Fibes. Can't say I've ever been impressed by that design, but Sonor SQ2 is the top of my list if I were to ever want another lifetime dream kit.
