I would never discount Weckl as being a great drummer. I guess I am just partial to the Coltrane, Tyner and Jones sound.

You just don't get the stands or pedals. The shells come complete with lugs and hoops. Some shell packs as stated prior, will not include a snare.
Growing up it was Neil Peart for the most rock and Gadd. Now, in my 40's, Elvin Jones and Gadd. Max Roach, most of the Jones' of the same era. Wish I was bitten by the jazz bug back in high school.
I have ZHT rock pack since I did not want to spend an arm and a leg. I am not a pro, but I have been playing for over 3 decades. I am happy with the sound. It is not like they are garbage. Figure...
Here are some pics of 2 of the 3 rides I was offered:

I doubt I would rewrap without filling the holes, otherwise you would have a good chance of damaging your new wrap job. I would leave the mounting hardware, just because it would keep your drum...
Personally. after owning 4 or 5 different electronic sets over the past 20 years and spending time at Sam Ash looking at both the TD12 and TD20 (I used to have a TDK-9 years back and more recently a...
Local, used sounds like your best bet. I went with a Gretsch Renown because I have been playing for 32 years and prefer them over a $700 set, but cannot justify $4,000+ for a set when I only play...
Counttewfour,
Two things. Firstly, nice set! I was going to go with the same color but did not want to wait and liked the retro Silver Sparkle. I think I will try the coated heads when I get a...
You never mentioned for what use. My first kit was something used I got back in '76 from my drum teacher. My parents bought it before they knew drumming was what I really wanted to do. Buy something...
I only own a Gretsch Renown set so I cannot say which if any is better than the rest. I do know that DW can tailor a set to your needs, which is a fantastic idea. Obviously, you pay for it. I also...
It definitely helps. I am looking for a little more warmth and control. I found the tones I want from the drums but especially inside, I end up using control rings to cut down on the ring, but I find...
I am leaning toward the K for my own use. Just not sure what I would need the Dejohnette for since my band does not play jazz. I have played Constatinoples and was not quite a fan.
I am thinking about maybe buying both. Not sure which K it is. I figured I couldn't lose at those prices.
Never owned K's, any one to look for in particular?
Guy told me the Dejohnette is...
Someone offered me either one or both 20" rides that he has for a while but never used. One is a K Custom and the other he said a Jack DeJohnette. I didn't find any info on a Zildjian DeJohnette...
How did the coated heads change the sound for you? I have mine tuned like you. Batters slightly higher than reso heads and the drums nice tone without the "boing". I have heard about a trend back to...
I have had my Renown set for about 3 months now. Just added an 8" tom to my 10", 12" 14" 22" setup. I really love the set. Much nicer sound than the other sets I have had in the past.
I am still...
Great assessment of the Renowns. I got mine a couple of months ago after 15 years of playing electronic drums. After 30+ years of playing, I would love to spend on a high dollar set but kids come...
