My best friend didn't know, apparently
Anyone know?
Thanks for the heads up!
Between Natural Gloss (not the Satin) and Walnut? Getting ready to buy and cant decide
Reason I started thinking about it was because it would be easy travel with just a floor tom. Then I got to thinking of the benefits of practicing this way. I realize I could just not hit the high...
thinking if i take away the high tom, forces me to do more rudiment type accents on snare for fills. Then the bass could become the "low tom", causing me to practice more footwork. I'm sure some of...
Thanks for the advice and opinion, guys!
Guess I could just try no toms, and see how I like that also. Could do quite a bit, with a little imagination, in minimal equipment situations with just...
Let me clarify, I don't want to replace the 16 when playing the entire kit, I love the 16 in that configuration. The 14 would be for a "one tom" situation, where the 16 would be a liitle low, maybe
For portability, i was thinking about buying a 14in floor tom for my kit. This way i could take just the snare, bass (22in), and floor tom. I have a 16in but it seems to me to be a little low for a...
Slingerlander, I never fine tune with toms on the kit, I always just tune off the kit... mount....test....off the kit....tweak...mount... etc til it sounds good. I'll try fine tuning them on the kit ...
I can't get much sustain from my mounted toms. They sustain fine while holding them in my hand, by the tom bracket. But mounted, no matter how I tune, sustain is very short.
I mounted the toms...
Lefty-loosey... Righty-tighty
:)
roc n soc is very comfortable. I have the spindle type instead of the nitro. I dont like the "bouncy" of the hydraulic shaft on the nitro.
considering the head combination, they're as open as i can get em now... no muffling as well
Yelp, i apparently was tuning my resonant head to low. Resonant tuned lower than batter. Was trying to control sustain. I was having a hard time tuning any other way with a coated single batter/clear...
A couple days ago, someone else was playing my drums while i was out of the room. The bass and snare sounded GREAT! But the toms were awful. While i thought they were good in the room, away from the...
I would suggest you buy only one head, and see what you think before getting a whole set.
I personally prefer a more open head, then you can "customize" the dampening with moon gel, when needed
Ethan, to me the drumdial can be useful in getting the drum in the relative range you want, and quickly. But, the drumdial isn't perfect. You'll need to fine tune still, which brings you back to the...
LOL, you misunderstood him. he doesn't use a drumdial on a guitar, he saying using a drumdial is similar to tuning a guitar. "liken" not "likes"
if i'm striking my hi hats, on the edge at 45 degree angle, for a long period (such as working on a beat repeatedly) my fingers feel a little numb from the vibration. It goes away when i stop or play...
try tuning the reso head lower.
on a side note, for some reason i get more snare buzz with a coated emperor batter than any other i tried. Maybe there's just certain tones, in different heads,...
i use the drum dial for a rough reference point. Then i fine tune.
I have the same kit as you, feel free to PM me if you have a question.
Oh, and I dont use the 10" much. I like the kit as a...
a good place to start.... note where the beater is, in relation to distance from the drum head. Now place your foot on the pedal, just relaxed with no added pressure. Adjust the spring so that the...
heres a great, easy, cheap way to put a hole in the bass drum head. get a metal can, such as a coffee can, that's the size hole you want ( probably 4" to 6"). heat the can on the stove, open end...
