    You would be best served by putting the 8 inch tom on the shelf and buying a matching 14 inch floor tom. The next item that may help with tuning is to upgrade the hoops to 2.3mm.

    That's what I do! I use my Sonor Session and Arena kits for gigging and keep the Beech Infinite kit at home and use it for recording.
    Take the intermediate kits out for gigs, Don't scratch up...
