Re: how can i clean my drums??

Just make sure there is no silicone in that stuff. Silicone can wreak havoc on lacquer finishes.

    Re: Bass Drum Heads

It would help to know what kind of music you play - and the size of the bass drum as well.

In general - on my 22" kicks - I use a clear Remo Powerstroke 3 for a batter and an Ambassador weight...

  5. Re: how many drumsets have you had? what kind? how long did you have it?

My very first set was a Japanese stencil no-name kit that was given to me by a friend when I was 14.

My First "real" set - about 6 months later (Christmas!) was a set of black Tama Rockstars. I...

    Re: Painting Cymbals

I suspect that the colored cymbals that are out there are lacquered like many regular cymbals... but the lacquer is simply tinted and maybe a little heavier.

I remember the Paiste Color Sound...

You could probably do this with LED lights. LEDS are very small but very powerful.

    Re: Painting Cymbals

My guess is that powder coated cymbals (if they indeed exist) are designed from the get-go to be powder coated - so any effects of the coating on the sound are accounted for in the manufacturing...

    Re: oh the deception!

You can generally assume that the retail outlet you are purchasing your musical instrument from paid about 40% to 50% off list or MSRP for the item you are buying. Work up from that to see what kind...

    Re: Evans vs. Remo

IMO Remo Emporers sound "livelier" than G2s. I think they sustain a bit better and have more upper mids. I also do not like the way G2s feel at JAW tunings. The difference is subtle though.

Good luck with your new instrument!

I took guitar lessons in my early 20's and it was a great expansion of my musical knowledge.

Good luck with your audition! It's never too early to start playing with other people. I started playing the drums by playing in a band when I was 14 - and I never looked back!

    2.) Ringo Starr (The Beatles)
    3.) Buddy Rich
    4.) Brendan Canty (Fugazi)
    5.) Stewart Copeland (The...

    Re: Snare buzz.

Another remedy for too much snare buzz is to tighten the four lugs on either side of the snare beds. This will distance the head from the snare wires a bit.

Re: Whats your favorite thing about playing ?

I love the feeling of when you know a song so well you can just get lost in it. When it's just pure emotion and you don't need to think about it anymore.
