Re: My Bandmate Died Last Night

Many thanks to all of you guys.
I found out about the loss of yet another friend just yesterday; not a musician, but a lover of music.
Getting old is not for sissies.......

Sticky: Re: So what drum related stuff did you do today?

I've been working on two songs from Steve Wilson and Porcupine Tree....
    OPEN CAR and BLACKEST EYES
Gavin Harrison provides some fun stuff....my band may not agree to play them, but I wanted to work...
  4. Re: Sometimes this is the most disappointing thing you can see

Due to my day job, I never got into social media, ever -- FB, Twitter, all of it.
SO, I confess I do not understand the attraction.
However, I do frequent another drummer site that seems to do...

Agree with Spaz....would be a better display of multiple talents.

Battle of the Bands was something available to my band when I was in high school; I actually laughed when I saw the subject come...

    RIP Alan White

This is very sad news indeed....a big inspiration.
One of 16 times I saw YES, I was present at the Dallas concert (1972) where Alan made his debut.
I had no idea it was his first night until I saw...

    How about this ???
The song starts with an awesome rhythm guitar riff....
....and the guitarist brings it in at the wrong tempo.

    Re: Band Horror Stories

I'm always amazed that some musicians have no tempo whatsoever....until the drummer gives it to them.

    Re: Gig Preparation

We played the (outdoor) gig Friday night -- the weather was glorious and the crowd was enthusiastic.
It was good to get out again and play some fun music.

We had a new sound man and a few...
  12. Re: “It was the most fun I ever had… the best thing I ever did,”

Good story -- thanks for posting that.
I have a very similar story....parents gave me my first kit at 11 years old -- taught myself to play simple rock songs and got better....in the 70s, all...

    Re: Very humbling drumming experience???

    Problem resolved......forget the whole thing.
I've worked hard for so many years at the art and mechanics of drumming.
I had multiple goals, but none of them were open mic night.

    Re: Gig Preparation

Fantastic.........we always had 8 or 10 club gigs per year between the private functions we would also play.
Since the pandemic, we no longer have any clubs/public gigs in venues worth gigging.

    Re: Gig Preparation

    Yes, Tom.....very true.
We have had rehearsals to keep the chops going, but the atmosphere is now better.
Like our parents always told us.....it's good to have goals.

My band has an excellent gig soon (private function) and it is such a great feeling to be preparing for such an event again.

Can't see the Stones existing without Watts.........but that is just me.
    No ZZ without Dusty.
    No Rush without Peart.
And certainly no Yes without Squire.
