    pedal issues

    I bought a Trick Dominator a couple weeks ago...awesome pedal...but I've had an issue.

First for anyone that hasn't seen or tried this pedal one of the main selling points is that it is two...

    Re: Mike Wengren

Bah semantics lol...I agree though that for some that is a little bit harder than what he could be playing.

That said, again I think he is a good drummer and the best drummer they as a band could...

    Re: Mike Wengren

Difficulty is a matter of experience/skill. For the most part his stuff isn't complicated.

Is somebody playing for a year or two going to be able to pull most of it off? No. But compared to a...

    Re: Mike Wengren

He's a good drummer but I wouldn't consider him to be underrated. Playing along with what the rest of the band is playing is normally a drummer's primary focus.

Honestly the stuff he does on...

    Re: Gig Preparation

This pretty much covers it all.

The only thing I would add is maybe take a practice pad to warm up on and stretch before the gig starts.

    Grats and have fun!

    Re: Bass Drum Size

As stated 22" is pretty standard. But Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage uses a 20" and it sounds phenomenal. I was in a metal band several years ago and actually used two rythm traveler bass drums...

Re: Drummer's are not all dumb...

I've never heard dumb...I've always heard "drummers aren't really musicians".

My guitar player used to say stuff like that all the time...until he started learning to play drums lol.
  9. Re: What music is currently inspiring you to become a better player?

You should be careful with generalizations. It's not all math...and anger while not considered a healthy one...is an emotion. To take that a step further there are metal bands that do not make...

He's been quoted as saying that and that he's surprised more metal drummers do not go that route.

    Re: What's Your Favorite Groove?

^ I agree with this whole heartedly.

And while I certainly appreciate and respect all of the classic stuff that's been named so far...I'm going to risk getting criticized by saying that my...

Best...Buddy Rich IMO...favorite is definitely Bonham.
  13. Re: What music is currently inspiring you to become a better player?

I do like a lot of metal but Nile is definitely a band that I do get into just for drums. It's just too heavy for my taste. One band I recommend to people that don't care for metal in general due...

    Re: When is it time...?

lol this....also Chapin's been mentioned a couple of times. I saw him at PASIC in '99 (if that's when it was in Columbus, OH don't remember) and he was still playing better than I probably ever...
  15. Re: What music is currently inspiring you to become a better player?

There are three for me currently...Tool, Lamb of God and Nile. I don't normally listen to stuff quite as heavy as Nile but George Kollias is just insane. I doubt I'll ever be at that level but it's...

    Re: Drum mics

I bought CAD's 7 piece kit last year as it was one of the cheapest I could find and I was on a very limited budget. I've been very satisfied with it thus far. It's not going to sound as good as a...

    Re: Double Bass rudiments...and advice?

While it shouldn't be a main point of focus when working on developing chops another thing to do is to play along to some of your favorite music. It's not as focused but it's a ton of fun! Since...
  20. Ion Audio Drum Rocker...anyone tried this?

The only thing that's been a part of my life longer than drums has been video games. Harmonix and Neversoft choosing to incorporate drums into their music games was the best news I'd ever heard.
