Sticky: Re: So what drum related stuff did you do today?

Keep hearing about your bleeding hands. That's terrible. You need to get a good grippy pair of gloves.

Re: How did you "go pro"?

Have been playing since I was about 14, and joined – and left – a lot of bands along the way. But I found I could make money playing dinner dances in my home town (in England). It was typical...

    Re: How did you start?

Play along with songs and learn exactly how other drummers do it.
Rudiments are for marching bands :)

There's no such thing as a 16 inch bass drum.
    Do it right.

    Same here.
Although I was unaware that there was still a thing called progressive rock.

    Re: Curved TV's

First of all congratulations on buying a new TV – it's always a good thing.
As far as the curve, I would imagine (from optical theory) that the curve would cut down on room reflections and ambient...

    Re: My friend's a genius,but he's also a nut..

Yeah, known a few guys like that.
In Turkey, though, if you don't believe in conspiracies then they think you're nuts.
My favorite conspiracy theory is Ernest Hemingway's firm belief that the FBI...

    Re: The Who-Keith Moon

Actually I'm not a Moon fan at all.
But his creativity simply makes my point.
In the "arts" there is often a period of creation, relatively short, but disruptive.
This is followed by a much...

    Re: The Who-Keith Moon

PS. You need a hi-hat because you're a drummer. He didn't need one (although it was only a phase he went through) because he was a creator.

    Re: The Who-Keith Moon

Well first of all, Eminence Front was not really the Who. It was more of a precursor to the Peter Gabriel song Sledgehammer. It was a mediocre 80s groove thing, if you weren't there you won't...

    Re: Anyone heard of Thunder*****?

I think you can extrapolate the name, based on them all being gals and their being five asterisks in the name :)

Re: Confused on drum kit prices.

    Sounds like a plan!
My Premier kit I played for a hundred years, way back in the distant past, was red and looked great under the lights.

Re: Deciding on buying a small drum kit.

As I said on the other tiny kit thread I prefer the Sonor Bop kit.
For an extra 30 bucks you get "real" drum sizes, but in the same small footprint.
    Just my 10 cents.

Re: Confused on drum kit prices.

They probably have a boatload of red kits left and need to move them.
Personally I prefer the Sonor bop in silver sparkle for $429.
    Best of both worlds.
  21. Re: Great gigs are what makes it all worthwhile

Didn't mind the blue in principle, just looked a little dusty. :)
New wrap is way sexier, but yeah, bacon would be tasty.
  22. Re: Great gigs are what makes it all worthwhile

    Wrap looks great!
You might want run a cloth over that bass drum.
And it's not a celebration at all without bacon!

    Re: snare throw off

During those moody bass heavy intros to quiet songs you leave the snares off so they don't buzz like the ****ens.
Then you ease them on quietly so they don't go 'snap' - before you crash the party....
