When putting on the drumheads for the first time, you have to make sure you tighten lightly, play some, tighten more, play some more, etc. Continue that until the kevlar head is to your liking....

I think this is completely up to whether or not you care if you get a nik or two on your drum. Personally, I can be a baby when it comes to a scratch lol. Just my quick opinion. :icon_lol:
