Hey Late8
That was a great video. You can see where a human error can happen on the shaper table pretty easy, just pick the drum up or place it down onto the bit instead of bringing it into the...
Hey Late8,
That looks like a bit of router/shaper burn on that edge...dull cutting tools perhaps? The hole in the ply is just terrible. That should be a solid ply with no knots or imperfections...
Hi piratemonkey124
From the looks of things your drums seem to have been scratched to the wood but it does not look like you have any dents?
If you have any dents it will be harder repair. Are...
Hi Cabasner,
Sorry to hear about your Mom.
When I started playing "drums" I had to practice the rudiments for hours (military pipe band). Took me about 6 months to get a double stroke roll...
There is the drum gear specific, cymbals...another tom.... and then there is all the stuff that "could" be bought, like PA stuff..mics, speakers, recording stuff....oh ya...film stuff...
Have to practice at work, away from my drums for a month at a time :( . Practice on the mouse pad and on my leg working on hand speed and breaking the left hand free. Big difference in a month for...
Well< I bought my set of drums at Christmas time, first set in 20 years and did a lot of research. I was able to purchase a set of Gretsch Renown 57 series drums for $1200 for a full 5 piece kit. ...
Here is a pic of the back side. Beside the classic Tama Camco pedal you can see the damper I have. I found this to be great to get a better sound from the bass with less "boing" sound. Have it...
Very Nice!
I have my set that I bought new in 1985 and used when I went to University. I have the pre-tuned heads and and upgraded to version 2 so I also have the tunable heads as well. The...
Sounds really great! What are your Doubts? Says in the band bio that you guys play a lot of different mixes? That would be great. Reggae up some country tunes :)...or not :)
I'll just put this out there:
Rush as a creative group are amazing and they still have the chops to back their creativity when playing live. Judging by Geddy's vocals, I could see the band retire...
Guitarists, Bassists and Drummers all over the world have been influenced by RUSH!! Even every guy who sings way above normal!
Awesome they get the recognition...should have been years ago!

I am just going to say that I recently purchased new drums and I found them to be really inexpensive for what I got. For the most part.
Drums are a huge instrument, cymbals are made out of some...
So, with respect to another thread about how your drums sound to you playing verses the audience, how many drummers tune their drums off the kit and how many on their kit?
I tune the drum off the...
+ 1 for Drummer
Hey Late,
I can see what you are saying, I guess what I was getting at is as far as tuning your kit it should still sound good to your own ears, should it not?
It may sound even better when...
Just putting this out there:
If you mic up your kit and you are doing recording, aside from what you do with the mixer regarding EQ and other effects, are you not setting the mics up on a drum kit...
Sticks4drums: No I have not seen your kit. Is it in the pictures of awesome kits? I will do a search.
If you are talking to the Gretsch rep at any time could you ask if a 14" floor tom for a 57...
Thanks Sticks4drums
I should inquire about a chevron or two for the 12 and 16" size...If I make another I would be trying for a 14" either floor or rack mount tom.
Debating whether my bongo...
Remove the upper tube and check things out. It may be obvious if the rod is bent. Might be something jammed inside the lower end if the stand was taken apart for transport etc.
perhaps post a...
Try playing some stuff that is outside your norm and has some crazy drumming. I have been throwing in some SKA and faster Reggae stuff ....some of it is crazy hard and sounds really cool :)
Gretsch drums, Tama/Star snare and I have a set of Purecussion RIMS drums too... Pearl, Tama, Gibraltar, Camco hardware and some stuff that doesn't have a name on it :)
Slinglander!
Audacity works GREAT! After fooling around a bit you can even get the BPM right on the money with a little math and the using the select tool to pick the time between 1 and 4...

Thanks guys,
I'll have a look for Audacity.
my drumming tunes will not know what hit them :)
