    Re: Concert toms

They were all over eBay about 5 years ago. They weren’t that desirable, and I bought quite a few late 60s 3ply Ludwig concert toms for very little money. Guess I’m glad I did!

Thank goodness they didn’t play the trombone

    Re: Worlds fastest drummer

He was the all-time reigning champion of that hand slap game back in Jr. High. And....he can open a jar of Vlasic pickles without warming it up under the faucet first. Having incredible wrist...

Re: Restored 1976 rare floor tom.

    Nice! That’s definitely a beast.
It would go great with my 28,14,16,18 Ludwig project kit!

Re: Crazy Places You've Practiced Drums

Unfortunately, I’d have to say an empty bar. But at least it was a paid practice.

    Empty used car lot?
    How does that come about?
You just pull up, set up and start jamming?

Re: New Snare Recommendations Please ...

I’m partial to 13x7 as well. If you like metal, I can recommend the Ludwig Supralite as a nice option. Almost the same sound as a Black Magic or Beauty at a fraction of the cost...definitely a...

    Re: Which compact Drumset?

If you’re still wanting to stay with a small kick, you might try a kit with a 16” kick. Like the Safari or Breakbeats. I have a home-made Kit with a converted 16”FT for a kick. Not much “rumble”, but...

Re: What makes a good drummer good?

I tell everyone that as a drummer, I’ve Progressed beyond traditionally excepted boundaries of tempo deviation. :icon_lol: I call it the “living tempo technique”. It means that my inability to...

Sticky: Re: So what drum related stuff did you do today?

^^^^ Happens to me on a regular basis. Last time I played a gig was almost a full year ago. And....it was only about 4 songs since we got rained out. The last full 4hr gig I played was in May of...

Re: What makes a good drummer good?

I think you explained it well. It’s like asking what makes a good car. A Corvette is a good car if you’re driving fast on a twisty road....but it sucks if you’re going to Home Depot to buy lumber....

Re: What makes a good drummer good?

    I’m with Ricardo on this. I would only add a couple things;
    1) a good drummer plays for the song. That may mean zero fills....or it may mean a few simple ones. It rarely means complicated beats and...

Umm....OK....the “standing girl” is kinda creepy :icon_eek:

Reminds me of the chic in that paranormal movie. The one that stands by the bed looking at her boyfriend all night.

    Re: Coronavirus and Musicians

We couldn’t take it anymore. We held a band practice last Sunday...we’ll, more of a jam session, and it was such a HUGE stress relief.
In “social distancing” spirit, we held it outside on my...

    Re: Small Crashes Anyone?

I prefer small, thin crashes. Typically, they open up for a full sound without being too loud. A lot depends on the application. Most of the local venues here are small. Having a full crash sound at...
  18. Re: Wierd things that have happend when playing gigs.

We had something somewhat similar happen at a private party. Except we found out after that the girl’s legal name was Dave....which explains the large girdle type underwear she was wearing.
  19. Re: Wierd things that have happend when playing gigs.

Yep. Seen plenty of weird things at gigs. 99.9% of them were the result of alcohol. Well, actually 100%...

    Re: New snare drum day

Never can go wrong with an Acrolite. Every now and then I see a couple on CL or Facebook. Most are the Black ones like yours, but once in a while a grey one with B/O badges pops up.

    Re: Which compact Drumset?

I’m seriously considering a new PDP Concept Maple Bop kit (18,12,14). Should be a good replacement/upgrade for my SPL bop kit. The one I want is out of stock, but supposed to be available in 2...

Sticky: Re: Show Us Your Drums!

I believe the reason it’s placed so far forward is for weight balance. With such a small, light BD, the weight of the ride cymbal needs to be placed over the spur. They get pretty tipsy otherwise....

    Re: OT: Post Covid19 ?

I’m guessing things around here will be sketchy at best for bands in the next year. We were lucky to pull $350 out of a club/bar gig before. When this is over, I suspect it will be worse. Regardless,...

Re: Almost lost my job... thanks Corona Virus

My older brother got sent home from work on a 14 day self quarantine. All because one of his coworkers was POSSIBLY exposed. So, he called his wife, who works at a daycare and told her. She decided...
