Just out of interest:
Why do you have so many snares?
Definitely not ZBTs. I haven't used any of the others though, so I can't vote.
I use vater because they are the most durable wooden sticks I have come across.
I wouldn't cut any wood if I didn't have to.
Jump into a band straight away man.
Your drumming will improve much faster than you think and you'll be having fun doing it.
The most important thing when finding a band is that you all get...
I'm not overly happy with my Evans EC Reverse Dot snare head.
It's unbreakable, but it provides too much muffling in my opinion. If you want your snare to have a nice, healthy ring I'd try something...
24 inches... holy moly!
This thread has made me lose my faith in ProMark.
Good on ya for being disciplined with learning counting. It will really help you with your drumming.
The Vater's held up at the gig...
I lost one in the little gap behind the drum riser and the back wall though :(
Thanks for recommending them to me.
My specialized drum head is a stock head with a large, fluffy, penguin toy stuffed in the drum. Works a treat.
After paying out sound guys here on Friday, I had a gig Saturday night... and my goodness, the sound guy was awesome, and it wasn't just his crazy beard.
There were three bands, three drumkits. I...
That sucks.. What if the other guy didn't want you to use his drums? I wouldn't let someone I've never seen play behind my kit. It is good etiquette to provide your own snare and cymbals (and...
I always go for about a 4" hole. You can fit a big mic in there, and it's not so big that it kills the sound, although it does alter it a lot.
Well I picked up a couple of pairs of Vater 5bn's yesterday and got through rehearsal (about 2 hours of drumming) with no problems at all.
The flat butt ends are a little weird and feel funny...
Just out of interest, what kind of church service requires a drum solo?
Drumbum also does drumsticks with your name printed on them,

Get the best you can afford.
If you trust your drum teacher, I'd listen to him. He sees you drum in person and would be the most qualified to give advice.
I was given a pair of cheap, cheap...
I can feel the love.
I think that most activities and professions have their "rock band drummers". I'm a graphic designer during the day, and the graphic design forum I visit has almost the exact...
Shields are very good if you don't want the sound of your drums to be picked up by other microphones on a stage and to keep the general volume down for the the other musos. It also gives a sound guy...
Yeah, it's all in the spring adjustment.
If you can't get the pedal loose enough, you could try replacing the spring with a longer one before you go out and buy a new pedal.
This argument could be adapted to almost anything. Eg. Playing any type of sport on a Wii or building a gate when you're not a professional.
I don't think it's realistic to expect people to have...
A do a bit of that. The damage was probably done in the days of my 2B recklessness when I used to have my HHs a bit high. I'm over that now.
You should see the 4 inch crack on the UFIP bottom hat....
Good question.
You'll probably find about 5 different types at your local store that all look pretty much the same but cost all different prices.
Personally I don't know much about them, but I...
