On my GMS kit I had a 16 & 18 down & loved it. That 18" sounded like thunder. Looking for a mid 80's Ludwig 18 shell so I can match it to my custom painted, red - silver Duco kit I am now playing. ...
I think as you play that left side bass pedal & switch it back & forth it will:drums: wear in & be alot easier to play. Thinking of getting one of these myself.
Dave Huffman
So every time U hit the left bass drum pedal you also hit the cow bell??
I have been playing over 40 years & I like to tinker with stuff. I have refinished several drums. modified a lot of hardware Added & removed RIMS mounts. I think they suck! Changed hundreds of heads....
My favorite drummer is Phil Ehart from Kansas. I also am a Bonham fan. I guess it depends on the type of music.
I don't hate Rap music cause it AIN'T MUSIC!
I like Neil & his playing but I ain't paying 30 grand to be like Neil. You won't sound anything like Neil because of the modern recording process & Pro tuning in the studio & all. Cases for that set...
My advice is to buy a higher quality used set. If you have no experience find a drummer who you trust to help you find one. Drums don't really wear out that much but hardware & heads do. Buy the best...
I have done it on & off for years. Just takes a little while for me to get back into it.

I don't muffle much. I use moon gels on the toms & snare if needed. Also felt strips on both bass drum heads.

I have used them on my 24" Slingerlands they sound & look pretty good on the front of a bass drum
I use both the Ahead stick & wood sticks. I use nylon tip wood sticks as I don't care for the sound of wood tip stick on cymbals. Not brite enough sound for me. I use mainly Zildjian & Vic Firth wood...
DW beaters. I use the felt side.
I don't care for the smaller chinas 18" is the smallest I have had I . I got rid of a Zildjian 22" china cause I just didn't use it I still have a 20" Wuhan but don't use it much. Mainly keep it for...
You might want to keep that Slingerland kit as is & get a modern kit also. The biggest difference between vintage drums & new stuff is the hardware is MUCH better
The new Gibson - Slingerlands are...
Get some used drums, older Ludwigs, Slingerlands,Pearl, Tama or what ever. Check Pawn shops & music stores for used stuff. You can get A LOT more BANG for BUCK!

I have heard good things about the DDrums but have never played or heard them. I play American made drums & cymbals. It's just the way I am.
I play GMS, Ludwig & Zildjian cymbals
Way back in the 70's when we wore bell bottom pants it happened all the time. I would just roll my right pant leg up or use one of those straps you use when riding a bicycle. I still carry one of...
Haven't had much to do with the Tama Camco pedals. Thr original Camco - Gretch Floating Action are what became the DW 5000 line of pedals. I have used DW parts to fix Gretch pedals & all the parts...
I have a seven piece GMS kit & a four piece Ludwig kit I just got refinished.
I am 51,gonna start playing the for piece on gigs unless I have a tech.

Do you carry a bird or monkey?? Why would you carry a perch?? Or is it a fish??
I have my crashes high & flat but hit with a glancing blow/ I play pretty hard sometimes but seldom break a stick any more on my drums. If I set in on someone else's tubz I always seem to break a...
Nope Dave H. As in Huffman & I play in Full Throttle!
I HATE double pedals so on my ludwig 14" X 28" I use one DW 9000 & on my two GMS 16" X 24"'s i use two DW 9000's. I collect old bass drum pedals kinda & will some times use a Ghost or a Rogers Swivo...
